Please note: Due to the temporary closing of all sports canteens in the Netherlands, the project start as well as the intended starting date of the position has been moved to 1 April 2021. The deadline for applications has been changed to 20 November 2020. See text below for updated information.
The Behavioural Science Institute (BSI), Radboud University, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher on the Behaviour Change and Well-Being research programme. As a postdoc you will carry out a 2-year research project that is part of a collaboration between BSI (Behaviour Change and Well-Being group) and the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB). The overall goal of the project is to use insights from the psychology of behaviour change to help people make healthier choices in football canteens that provide food and drinks. The project is part of the FC Vers Initiative. The participating football clubs allow experiments testing various interventions aimed at changing their members' consumption behaviour at their canteens. As a postdoc, you will play a central role in developing, implementing and evaluating those interventions. In what are known as 'canteen labs', consumption behaviour is continuously and automatically measured, which makes it possible to track changes in consumption behaviour as a function of the intervention over time. Aside from this continuous access to behavioural data, another exciting aspect of this project is that a series of (theory-based) interventions can be developed and tested across the two-year duration of the project. The project therefore promises ample opportunity for applied as well as scientific research contributions to the psychology of behaviour change. The results and lessons learnt from the project will be communicated directly to the KNVB and will serve as a basis for its future programmes supporting healthy consumption behaviour at football canteens. Moreover, the goal is also to share the findings with the scientific community in peer-reviewed journal articles.
You will be directly supported by a small team of colleagues from the Behaviour Change and Well-Being group at BSI, including Dr Daniela Becker, Prof. Rob Holland and Dr Harm Veling, and you will be a member of the BRACE-lab (Behaviour Regulation and ChangE-lab). Moreover, due to its applied nature, the research project will be conducted in close collaboration with volunteers from the participating football clubs and will be regularly communicated to representatives from the KNVB.
Fixed-term contract: 2 years.
