Job description

We are looking for an excellent enthusiastic scholar to join the Learning, Data-analytics & Technology cluster at the Faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences, a growing multidisciplinary research group exploring how technology and various sorts data can support teaching and learning within schools and other organizations. The new colleague will be imbedded in our departments Educational Sciences (OWK) and Teacher Development (ELAN) and mainly contribute to their research, but also to the research of others who work on similar topics. In our research and teaching we strongly focus on how technology like VR, AR, apps, and (sensor) data can be used to support the learning of employees (OWK) and the professional learning and decision making by teachers (ELAN).

We seek a talent with a background in learning technologies with a focus on professional learning and development. We invite you to develop a new line of research in cooperation with us, that focuses on the development and utilization of learning analytics and data visualization techniques like dashboards, to provide adaptive support to learners and teachers. Responsibilities

You contribute to research, teaching, and knowledge valorisation. You will:

  • carry out research in the field of professional learning and technology, with a genuine interest in operating at the crossroads of different subject areas;
  • improve your specific expertise and develop an interdisciplinary research line;
  • expand your network and acquire external research funding;
  • (co-)teach and coordinate courses in our Master program Educational Science and Technology, the minor Professional Learning in Organizations, and contribute to our Pro-U program;
  • contribute towards the supervision of PhD students;
  • develop expertise in novel data-driven research methods and work jointly with the BMS lab.

 

Candidates we seek

  • show vision and a results-oriented drive;
  • hold a PhD degree in a relevant background (educational science, -psychology, HRD, computer science or human-technology interaction);
  • have experience in field research, which is apparent from publications in academic journals, presentations in international scientific conferences, and other academic activities;
  • conduct (fundamental and applied) research within a multidisciplinary environment;
  • are active in scientific and professional networks for acquiring research funding, and have ambition and experience in working closely with companies and government agencies;
  • have teaching experience (both lecturing and tutoring) at an internationally accredited university;
  • possess good communication skills and an excellent command of English; a good command of Dutch is preferable.
  • possess a(n) (equivalent of) the University Teaching Qualification certificate, or are willing to obtain this, and have a real passion for, and the ambition to become a creative and effective teacher.

Conditions of employment

We offer a tenured full-time appointment. The starting salary, depending on your experience, ranges between € 3.746 to € 6.940 gross per month (in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities), based on the job profile Assistant or Associate Professor. In addition, the University of Twente offers additional attractive employment conditions (8% holiday allowance, 8.3% end-of-year bonus, solid pension scheme, sabbatical leave, professional and personal development programs, etc.).
