The Department of Biotechnology at Delft University of Technology invites applications for a full-time Laboratory Technician Fermentation and Separation. Fermentation is one of the pillars of research and education conducted at the Department of Biotechnology. We are looking for a talented and motivated candidate who will perform and provide support for experimental activities related to preparing and performing fermentations and on-line and off-line analyses as well as downstream processing of fermentation products. The candidate will become part of a larger team of biotechnology, microbiology, and analytical chemistry lab technicians. The activities involve developing new techniques, designing new set-ups, and maintaining existing laboratory infrastructure. You may also support in 1st and 2nd year practical courses in microbiology and biotechnology. You will function in an international and multidisciplinary team.
The position is at HLO/HBO level, with a preferred background in biotechnology, biochemistry or analytical chemistry. Experience with working with fermentors is required, as well as experience in fermentation related analytical methods, such as GC and HPLC. The candidate should have an interest in fermentation-associated conversion and recovery techniques. A laboratory/research experience in a professional or academic setting is a plus. Education experience and affinity is recommended, but additional educational training can be offered. The candidate should have good communication, organizational and time management skills. The TU Delft is an international university, and the function requires clear oral and written communication in Dutch and in English. An enthusiastic, flexible team player who is accurate and result-driven will be welcomed.
