• Profile 1: You have a background in developmental psychopathology, pedagogy or a closely related field (e.g. psychology, health sciences or behavioural sciences). You have experience in developmental psychopathology research. In-depth knowledge of research in 'family and upbringing' is a plus. The Developmental Psychopathology programme studies how individual characteristics (e.g. personality, cognitions, emotions and genes) and environmental and social factors (e.g. peers, parents and schools) interact to influence the development of a range of psychopathologies. Based on your background and experience, you are able to connect and further develop the substantive themes in our education and research. You will contribute to both introductory and more specialist courses in our curriculum and supervise students during their internship and thesis research. We expect you to build and/or extend your own research line, in family and behavioural research or in developmental psychopathology, and to connect with researchers and research lines within our group and with other research groups.

• Profile 2: You have teaching and research experience in pedagogy, preferably within educational settings and with a specific focus on 'learning and learning problems' and/or special education. Experience in clinical practice is a plus. Your background and experience enable you to link the core themes in our teaching and research programmes and promote their further advancement. As a teacher, you will contribute actively to both introductory and advanced courses in our degree programmes. Experience in or a willingness to teach courses on the history of upbringing, education and pedagogical thinking would be appreciated. Furthermore, we expect you to supervise students during their internships and thesis projects. In your research, you will contribute to the 'learning and learning problems' domain within our group. You have already established your own research focus in this area, for example by studying learning problems in relation to situational factors. Affinity with language/reading research is relevant. We expect you to extend your own line of investigation as well as to cross disciplinary boundaries and establish partnerships with researchers from other research groups.

• A PhD degree in social science and a few years of postdoctoral experience in a field relevant to one of the above job descriptions.
• An outstanding track record in social scientific research, as evidenced by, for instance, publications in reputable international scientific journals or membership of a national research school.
• Fund-raising experience, preferably as main applicant.
• Experience in communicating (or implementing) the results of scientific research to professional practice.
• Knowledge of advanced quantitative and/or qualitative research methods and statistical techniques.
• Knowledge of time-series analysis (for use in single-subject designs) is recommended.
• Experience in or endorsement of open science practices aiming to enhance transparency in social science research (e.g., preregistration, data sharing).
• Experience with designing, coordinating and delivering courses at the Bachelor's and Master's levels, in both English and Dutch.
• Dedication and persistence in supervising Bachelor's and Master's students during their internships and thesis projects.
• A university teaching qualification (BKO) or the willingness to obtain this certificate within two years after appointment, preferably through the ‘coaching’ module for experienced teachers.
• A clinical registration is recommended.
• An international network in academic and professional practice.
• Good social, communication and organisational skills, as well as team spirit.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English (C1 level) or the willingness to achieve this proficiency level within two years of appointment.
• Excellent command of the Dutch language or the willingness to acquire sufficient proficiency in this language within two years of appointment.

Fixed-term contract: upon positive evaluation after 2 years: tenured position.

• Employment: 0.8 - 1.0 FTE.
• A maximum gross monthly salary of € 5,127 (salary scale 11) or € 5,826 (salary scale 12) based on a 38-hour working week.
• Which UFO job profile applies (i.e., Assistant Professor, level 1 or level 2) depends on your previous training and (relevant) work experience.
• The salary depends on the UFO job profile that applies and can be in scale 11 (for Assistant Professor 2), or scale 12 (for Assistant Professor 1).
• In addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.

Faculty of Social Sciences

The Faculty of Social Sciences is the largest faculty at Radboud University. The Faculty's ambition is to become one of the top social science institutes in Europe, providing high-quality research and study programmes that rank among the best in the Netherlands.

BSI is a multidisciplinary behavioural research institute at Radboud University. Our researchers collaborate across the boundaries of psychology, educational science and communication science. BSI has seven research programmes covering three major research themes: 1) development and learning, 2) psychopathology, health and well-being, and 3) social processes and communication. BSI has state-of-the-art research facilities for observational studies, experiments, eye-tracking studies, EEG and other physiological measures, and behavioural measurements in real and 3D virtual environments. The neuroimaging facilities of the Donders Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging (fMRI, MEG and TMS) are available for research on the neural bases of behaviour. There is also frequent collaboration with external partners such as schools and institutions for, for instance, youth care.

The positions will be embedded in the teaching institute of Pedagogical and Educational Sciences (in Dutch: Pedagogische Wetenschappen en Onderwijswetenschappen (PWO)), which currently houses about 1,700 students. The PWO study programmes focus on questions concerning upbringing, education, learning and typical and atypical development of children and adults. PWO aims to establish strong links between science and pedagogical and educational practice (scientist practitioner). The programmes have been regularly assessed as excellent by students.
