Job description

As lecturer at CBI, do you want to contribute to improve health in animals and humans? Are you an expert in immunology and do you have affinity with innovations in education.? The Cell Biology and Immunology group of Wageningen University & Research would like to get in contact with you.

The Cell Biology and Immunology (CBI) group of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) has a vacancy for a lecturer to join our staff, complemented with a fundamental and translational research portfolio in the field of immunology or cell biology. We now have an open position available for a highly talented cell biologist and/or immunologist with a PhD degree who successfully completed relevant post-doctoral training and is motivated to contribute to the education portfolio of CBI.

You will have the following responsibilities, to be further developed based on experience and interest
  • You have an outstanding academic track record and are scientifically independent.
  • You perform basic and/or applied research involving advanced immunological approaches and technologies.
  • You provide a strong interest in teaching different aspects of immunology and have affinity with continuous innovation in teaching by implementing novel IT-based opportunities.
  • Being a part of an internationally recognized research team, you can contribute to the ongoing innovation of the group's educational program through mentorship and teaching.
  • You will run your own complementary research line by developing research-oriented education tracks for MSc thesis students.
  • You will be embedded within a diverse education team, as well as senior and junior scientists and closely collaborate with supporting staff.
  • You will contribute to teaching at multiple levels (BSc, MSc, PhD, postdocs and post-academic levels) within the broader field of Veterinary and Human Immunology.
  • You are expected to strengthen the existing connections (teaching, fundamental, applied and translational research) within the Animal Sciences group of WUR, and its capacity to perform top level research, training of students at all levels, and contribute to high impact publications.

Requirements

  • A PhD degree in (molecular) immunology and successfully completed relevant post-doctoral training.
  • You have proven experience with teaching for (under)graduate students and aspiration to develop new courses with innovative teaching elements at the BSc and MSc level is required. Having or obtaining a UTQ (University Teaching Qualifications) or other senior teaching qualification is required.
  • A stand out colleague with an excellent track record in fundamental and/or applied (veterinary) immunology at an (inter)nationally competitive level.
  • You have some proven experience in project and budget management.
  • You are enthusiastic to develop an independent immunological research line in close collaboration with national and international scientists, that is well embedded within the Cell Biology and Immunology group.
  • You are flexible and supportive by nature.
  • You have strong verbal and written English communication skills are required. Awareness of the importance of dissemination and societal outreach is encouraged.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between € 3.746,- and €5.127,- for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 11). The duration of the contract is initially for two years, with the prospect for extension and potentially a permanent contract.
