As an online marketeer and content manager you will be responsible for heading AUC’s marketing and recruitment efforts and online presence. You will engage in generating inspiring (online) content while maintaining our communications channels for promotion of the study programme.

Job description

Amsterdam University College (AUC)  is looking for an online marketeer and content manager who can reach and attract potential students from the Netherlands and abroad.

Are you a creative self-starter who is experienced in online marketing and enjoy the challenge of attracting high school pupils to join our university programme by making use of online channels? Do you get excited by successfully guiding a campaign from conception to completion? Do you also like to create content? Then we want to hear from you!

What are you going to do?

As a member of the AUC Services & Communications team, you will be the person who understands the mission and values of the programme and the student experience like no other and are able to translate that into marketing campaigns and engaging content. As an external representative of our department, you will also be closely involved with our parent institutions’ (UvA and VU) marketing teams who are responsible for university-wide (inter)national marketing and outreach to high schools.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • establishing a market overview and profile of potential students; focusing first on the Dutch market but later also internationally;
  • creating captivating content for marketing/recruitment purposes; composing original texts and selecting images for campaigns to prospective students, guidance counsellors and parents/guardians;
  • making recruitment activities and campaigns measurable, analyse achieved results and report back to the communications team in clear reports;
  • optimising AUC’s social media presence and other communications channels (website, newsletters etc.) to increase reach, engagement and generate leads;
  • following prospects through the funnel and advising on opportunities to improve touchpoints in the student recruitment journey;
  • working with a team of AUC student ambassadors and our peer-to-peer platform Unibuddy to facilitate contact between leads and current students;
  • identifying opportunities to make sure no potential student misses out on the opportunity to get to know our study programme.

Since this a new position at AUC, the role and exact responsibilities will develop over time.

Requirements

What do we require?

You are a service-oriented (online) marketeer who loves to create and get things done. Approachable but also independent and with great attention to detail.

You are also:

  • fluent in English and Dutch, both written and spoken;
  • up to date with the latest developments in the areas of digital marketing and communications (social media, content marketing, branding, SEA, Google Analytics etc.);
  • someone who knows how to create a marketing strategy from scratch (together with the communications team), and can work independently on executing it;
  • able to understand (and easily learn) what our target groups (prospective students, guidance counsellors and parents) need and how they think, behave and react;
  • flexible about (very) occasional irregular work hours;
  • and you have 3 to 5 years of experience in a marketing/content/communications position; preferably in a hands-on environment (e.g. a start-up).

Conditions of employment

Our offer

We provide an open and international work environment in a diverse team with different backgrounds. You’ll be encouraged to draw on your prior experience and given creative freedom in determining how you will approach and complete your tasks and projects.

We offer an employment contract for 24 to 32 hours a week for one year, with the possibility of extension with another year if we assess your performance positively. Preferably starting on 1 April 2021.

The salary, depending on relevant experience before the beginning of the employment contract, will be €2,656 to €4,012 (salary scale 8 or 9) gross per month, based on a fulltime contract (38 hours a week), exclusive 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.

The Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities is applicable. In addition, the UvA offers good provisions regarding pension, health care, training facilities, mobility and partially paid parental leave.

Amsterdam University College

Amsterdam University College (AUC) offers a liberal arts and sciences programme leading to a joint Bachelor (Honours) degree issued by the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam. AUC is a university college, with students living and studying together on its international campus at Amsterdam Science Park. The programme is taught entirely in English, is small-scale and selective, and admits a maximum of 300 students each year based on their academic performance and motivation.
