Job description

The cross-border laboratory for translational HPB oncology focuses on fundamental and translational research (both in vitro and in vivo), based on patient tissue samples, with emphasis on hepatobiliary and pancreatic oncology.

The UMCG acts as a tertiary and quaternary referral center for patients with HPB malignancies, thereby providing (surgical) treatment of all liver-, pancreas- and bile duct malignancies. The collaboration between the UMCG and Oldenburg University has started due to the shared interest of three hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeons in fundamental and translational oncological research. The HPB-laboratory is embedded in the Multidisciplinary Oncology Laboratory (MOL) of the UMCG, which provides all desired facilities for fundamental and translational research. The MOL is formed by laboratories of Medical Oncology, Gynaecologic Oncology and Haematology. The laboratory will work in close collaboration with the Cross-border Institute of Healthcare Systems and Prevention (CBI), which is a joint institution of the University of Groningen/UMCG and the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Oldenburg. The CBI aims to foster cross-border healthcare research.

Since our lab is a collaboration between the universities of Oldenburg and Groningen, we ask you to be flexible and there should be a willingness to work at both areas, with your main stay at the UMCG.
