Job description

The department of Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship is looking for a secretary. You'd be working at a top international business school, in English and Dutch.

The department has about 60 (international) faculty members: full/associate/assistant professors, lecturers and programme co-ordinators, PhD students and a secretariat of two secretaries.

You will support the department and its members with all secretarial and administrative support, such as agenda management, finance, HR matters, correspondence, administration systems, planning and organizing small and bigger seminars and events, housekeeping issues, and ad hoc and temporary projects.

Your main tasks
You will offer support to the complete staff of the department with secretarial, administrative and organisational responsibilities. These may include but are not limited to:
  • being point of contact for department faculty but also for other departments, students and externals
  • agenda management
  • (email) correspondence and post handling
  • HR and finance support: using finance and HR data systems, for example to approve invoices and keep up hiring systems of staff and students
  • assist in administration and organising (research) seminars
  • place and process all orders for the department such as books, IT equipment, catering and stationary - there are systems via Erasmus University for this
  • keep up lists and systems, including computer equipment and office lists
  • book flights and arrange travel
  • provide hands-on support during (online) events
  • household matters and logistics for the department.

Requirements

For this role, you need a secretarial or administration background on mbo- or hbo-level.

Your required competencies
  • Demonstrated experience in support or secretarial role (preferably also in in higher education institutions)
  • Team spirit: demonstrated experience working in a team environment with ability to work independently within supervisory guidelines
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and quality of work
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; both in Dutch and English
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Service oriented, pro-active and flexible

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

The position should start as soon as possible. This position is classified as Secretary of the VSNU job classification system and the salary will be in scale 6 - 7, based on education and working experience. It is for 32 hours per week (0.8 FTE).

The conditions of employment correspond with the collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

Salary is subject to training and experience and may vary from a minimum of € 2,052 (scale 6 CAO NU) up to a maximum of € 3,144 (scale 7 CAO NU) gross per month, based on a full-time contract of 38 hours.

Department

The department of Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship plays an important role in all major teaching programmes at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, such as BSc Business Administration and BSc International Administration, MSc International Management/CEMS, and Executive MBA. The department is home to in the MSc Strategic Management and MSc Strategic Entrepreneurship. We aim to continuously develop and improve the courses we offer to actively align them with the changing business environment, and are research-driven in what we teach.

The department belongs to Europe's strongest Strategy departments in terms of research output and impact. It consists of over approximately 40 teachers and researchers, including about 10 PhD candidates.
