Job description

Are you looking for a position where you can further develop yourself in the research field of study and career success? And are you up to the challenge to help as many students as possible to reach their full potential and to reduce gender and ethnicity inequality in universities, universities of applied sciences, and secondary education?

The Erasmus Centre for Study and Career Success makes use of an intervention programme that has shown to be been very successful in raising students' academic performance and retention rate. The goal is to help as many students as possible to reach their full potential and to reduce gender and ethnicity inequality in universities, universities of applied sciences, and secondary education. RSM has been applying the intervention project since 2011, and it is currently being rolled out at other faculties, universities and high schools.

The Centre is looking for a researcher per 1 August 2021.

As a researcher you will be responsible for preparing research and experiments, analysing and processing data, providing advice and guidance for team members, maintenance and management of research facilities, developing new methods and interventions, co-ordinating projects, and setting up new research plans, including funding. Publishing articles and presenting at conferences will also be part of the job.

  • Preparing research and experiments

  • Guiding and supporting project employees such as project co-ordinators and student assistants
  • Maintenance and management of research facilities
  • Setting up new research plans, including funding
  • Planning and structuring tasks
  • Managing time

Requirements

  • Higher professional education (equivalent to a master degree)
  • Research master or PhD is preferred
  • Extensive experience with SPSS
  • Preferably also experience with questionnaire software such as Qualtrics and Questback (Unipark)
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Dutch for internal and external communications (C1 level)
  • Leadership skills, decisiveness, people-oriented
  • Appreciation for academic research linked to real-world problems
  • Desire to create an impact on the academic community and society as a whole

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

Employment conditions:

The conditions of employment correspond with the collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU). We offer a 0.8 FTE contract, initially for one year.

Salary is subject to training and experience and may vary from a minimum of € 2,501 (scale 10-0 CAO NU) gross per month and up to a maximum of € 3,947 gross per month (scale 10-12 CAO NU), based on a full-time contract of 38 hours.

Erasmus University Rotterdam has attractive employment conditions, which include a holiday allowance of 8 per cent, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3 per cent, and a generous number of vacation days.
