Functional studies of the cohesis complex and its deregulation in cancer.

Job description

Your challenge
The cohesion team, led by Job de Lange, studies multiple aspects of chromosome biology. In particular, we focus on how deregulation of the protein complex cohesin in cancer may provide handles for clinical exploitation. In the context of a Dutch Cancer Society (KWF) research project, you will be joining our ongoing research, including the construction of suitable human cell line models and performing genetic and proteomic screens, as well as functional follow-up studies (support by a lab technician will be provided).

Your profile
We are looking for an ambitious postdoc with a strong background and publication record in molecular biology. General knowledge in cancer biology and experience with CRISPR tools and proteomics are an advantage. We expect you to be highly self-motivated, creative, and be able to work in a team. You should exhibit a high degree of independence, a problem-solving attitude and have strong analytical and technical abilities in addition to excellent communication and writing skills.

Conditions of employment

We offer
Salary Scale 10: 2911 tot 4615 euro gross when employed full-time (depending on qualifications and experience).
In addition, we offer:

  • Additional benefits include an 8.3% end-of-year bonus and 8.0% holiday pay.

  • Pension is accrued at the ABP. VUmc contributes a large part of the premium (70%).

The group is embedded in the Oncogenetics research section (headed by Rob Wolthuis), as part of the Cancer Center Amsterdam. This project will be carried out in collaboration with the proteomics lab of Connie Jimenez, which is located in the same institute.
