Job description

The Office of Student and Educational Affairs (OSEA) at EUC is part of the Dean’s Office and is at the heart of Erasmus University College (EUC). The OSEA team supports all students and academic staff with timely information and organisation regarding the Bachelor’s degree programme in Liberal Arts & Sciences.

OSEA currently has three Programme Officers, who each proactively supports the academic departments and the students with:

  • Maintaining communication with course instructors and (guest) lecturers, as well as all required organisational, logistical and administrative support to ensure the smooth functioning of all courses;
  • Ensuring effective and timely information (via course guides, the learning environment Canvas, the portal MyEUR and direct communication) for students on courses, as well as on their academic performance, so that students are able to make informed choices and to perform their study efforts efficiently and effectively;
  • Any other activities needed to assist the Head of OSEA, Heads of the Department, the Academic Director and the Examination Board of EUC with carrying out their respective responsibilities.

Examples of specific tasks include administrative support for: academic planning; course preparation and registration; scanning and archiving exams; processing grades, transcripts, students’ academic progress, external and exchange records; booking rooms for classes and activities; as well as maintaining digital records and improving processes with the team. Weekly team meetings and daily stand ups are held to discuss current tasks. All Programme Officers are expected to be able to fill in for each other and/or to reinforce one another in case of peak workloads.

Requirements

Ideally, you are a seasoned planner with proven organisational experience in Institutes of Higher Education, and comfortable with working in a very international environment. You are keen to learn, pro-active and a strong communicator who works well in a team.  

We require that you:

  • have affinity with working in an international environment;
  • have relevant working experience and an MBO+ (secondary vocational education) or higher degree level of thinking and working;
  • are proficient in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook – proficiency in OSIRIS as well as online study portals is strongly preferred;
  • have excellent written and oral skills for expressing yourself in English and Dutch (at least B2 level in the CEFR in both languages, C1 level is preferred);
  • have a service-oriented working attitude and you love to plan and organise;
  • have the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple requests simultaneously;
  • pride yourself on accuracy and integrity;
  • are eager to learn and to improve yourself;
  • are flexible, able to work as part of a team, and able to cope with the peaks in work intensity that arise from many deadlines.

Conditions of employment

The initial appointment will be for 0.8 – 1.0 fte in temporary employment for two years, with the possibility of extension. The conditions of employment at Erasmus University Rotterdam correspond with the collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities (cao NU). Salary ranking is based on education and experience and is set at cao NU scale 7 with a minimum of € 2,329 and a maximum of € 3,144 gross per month, on a fulltime basis of 38 hours per week. Within this range, your salary will depend on knowledge and experience.

Erasmus University offers attractive employment conditions, including a holiday allowance of 8%, a year-end payment of 8.3% and 41 annual leave days based on a full work week.
