Job description

The student experience officer will focus on enhancing the student journey from start to finish, from enrolment to graduation. In this role, you will focus on project management and take the lead in designing and implementing events, workshops and larger ESHCC interventions to foster student engagement and wellbeing throughout the study programmes across the 3 departments of the School.

You will closely work with colleagues from the Professional Services team to welcome (back) students and support them in the transition to student life at the Erasmus University, with a particular awareness of post or lessening pandemic concerns. You will need to have a good understanding of student matters to ensure that the student experiences are overall positive and their needs are effectively responded to.

You will be in contact with both students and staff to design the best possible workshops in topics such as student wellbeing, study success, personal development and career opportunities. Together with the Education Professional Services team and where possible with lecturers, you will make a positive and measurable contribution to the student experience and academic attainment.

You will be working in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment and, as such, the range of duties in this text are indicative. You will be expected to show flexibility and adaptability in meeting the developing needs of the departments of the ESHCC.

Tasks:

  • Organize mentor programmes for BA-1 students across programmes;
  • Keep students informed with regard to what is happening in departments and programmes and upcoming events via multiple channels.
  • Design and implement workshops and events for for both bachelor and master students.
  • Make referrals to, and communicate with, other university departments that offer support services to students, for instance EUR’s wellbeing initiatives.

Requirements

  • Previous higher education experience
  • Have at least one year of work experience, preferably in the field of (higher) education
  • Can interact and network effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Experience with designing and implement workshops and events
  • You are a team player, but can also work well autonomously
  • You are fluent in verbal and written Dutch and English (C1 level)

Conditions of employment

An internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with good working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

We offer a contract that is initially for one year based on 0.8 fte. Your salary is dependent on your specific knowledge and experience, and will be calculated on the basis of full-time salary ranging between € 2.656,- and € 3.548,- gross per month, on a fulltime basis. (scale 8, CAO NU). A full-time appointment at EUR is 38 hours per week.

In addition, EUR pays an 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year payment of 8.3% and offers excellent secondary benefits, and a very generous leave scheme. Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication

The Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (ESHCC) is part of Erasmus University Rotterdam. The school has three departments: HistoryOpens external,  Arts and CultureOpens external and Media & CommunicationOpens external.
