We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking lecturer to teach a range of courses from the department of Finance, including those in RSM's MSc Finance & Investments, BSc Business Administration and BSc International Business Administration programmes.

The lecturer will work closely with other members of the department and its Academic Director. The successful candidate will also work on projects related to teaching innovation and educational research. RSM offers developmental support to lecturers, including support for teaching qualifications so that excellent candidates can further develop into Senior Lecturers.

Your main tasks
The lecturer will be responsible for teaching courses in the portfolio of the department of Finance. Our master's students are those on RSM's MSc Finance & Investments, a world-class, one-year general finance curriculum, in which students follow compulsory and elective courses and write a thesis. Our two bachelor programmes, the BSc International Business Administration and BSc Business Administration, have finance courses in all three years. The lecturer will be coaching and supervising master's theses and bachelor projects and may also perform some co-ordinating tasks.

Requirements

Successful applicants are expected to have a PhD degree (or be in the process of obtaining such degree) in finance, accounting, or economics, to demonstrate a strong interest in teaching at the BSc and MSc level and have a proven track record in this respect. Candidates are expected to be fluent in English, our language of communication.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 24 months.

  • A lecturer appointment for 0.8 - 1.0 FTE, initially for two years. The position may be extended by another two years.
  • The ideal starting date is 1 December 2021.
  • Under normal circumstances the successful candidate will work on campus; restrictions due to Covid-19 may require working remotely using online teaching or blended learning (a combination of online and on-campus activities, with passive streaming of on-campus activities) until on-campus teaching resumes. Erasmus University Rotterdam follows the guidelines from the government and the RIVM.
  • The conditions of employment comply with the collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).
  • Depending on previous qualifications and experience the gross salary ranges between €2,836 and €5,211 per month for a full-time employment (scale 10-11 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities).
