Erasmus University College (EUC) invites applications for a Tutor/Lecturer in Economics (in Dutch ‘Docent’) (0.6 fte) for its Economics and Business department.

Job description

The primary tasks of the Tutor/Lecturer – in addition to tutoring across various courses (including academic skills courses) and reviewing assessment work done by students – are (to assist with) development, carrying out and coordination of theoretical and practical courses in the fields of Economics a/o Business for the curriculum. A Lecturer will also guide Capstone projects of students in their final year at EUC.

From the shared value of Organizational Citizenship, all faculty members will be expected to assist in recruiting events and matching interviews with aspiring students.

 The Economics and Business Department (ECB) at EUC closely cooperates with the other 3 departments of Humanities, Life Sciences, and Social and Behavioural Sciences to provide top quality education to our Bachelor students. The ECB team consists of some 10 people. Staff is are expected to be able to fill in for each other and/or to reinforce one another in case of peak workloads.

Requirements

We require that you:

  • You have graduated with distinction for a Master’s degree in Economics, Business Economics or Management (Tutor), or you are now finalising PhD-research/holding a PhD in a relevant field (Lecturer);
  • Candidates with a specialisation in general (micro) economics a/o statistics a/o management studies a/o entrepreneurship are specifically encouraged to apply;
  • You have demonstrable affinity with teaching;
  • You have excellent communication skills and you are highly proficient in the English language (at least C1 level, C2 level is preferred);
  • You look forward to becoming a proactive member of a stimulating academic community that is the hallmark of a university college;

Conditions of employment

The initial appointment will be for 0.6 fte in temporary employment for nine months.

The conditions of employment comply with the ‘CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten/Collective Agreement Netherlands Universities (CAO NU)’. Salary is subject to know-how and experience and will be within the range of salary scale 10 (from € 2.836 to € 4.474 gross per month), or – when both holding a PhD and the required relevant teaching experience – salary scale 11 (from € 3.807 to € 5.211 gross per month).

Erasmus University offers attractive employment conditions, including a holiday allowance of 8%, a year-end payment of 8.3% and 41 annual leave days based on a full work week of 40 hours. In addition, EUR takes part in the ABP pension scheme, and we also offer partially paid parental leave.
