Job description

The Extension School collaborates with the faculties of the TU Delft to create a high-quality online learning experience for professionals and learners around the world. We offer MOOCs, professional courses, online academic courses and short learning programmes around the themes Energy Transition, Sustainable Cities, Future of Transport, Quantum Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Medical Technology and Skills for Engineers.

With our research and innovation activities we gain further knowledge on online education and use that to improve our campus education.

In this role, you will partner with the Technical Instructional Designers to ensure that the Extension School can deliver outstanding open, online and blended courses on the following platforms:

  • edX, (edx.org)
  • Professional Education Platform (ProfEd), (profed.tudelft.nl)
  • TU Delft Online Courses (TUDOC), (onlinecourses.tudelft.nl)

You will oversee the Extension School servers, the tools hosted on these servers and supported third-party tools used in our courses.

As a Functional Administrator, you will be:

  • Managing and administrating the Extension School Open edX platforms (ProfEd and TUDOC).
  • Managing and administrating supported third-party tools and applications hosted on the Extension School servers.
  • Supervising the installation, upgrade, and daily maintenance of our Open edX platforms (ProfEd and TUDOC) in collaboration with our IT department and external suppliers.
  • Ensuring that the Extension School Open edX platforms and tools are always up and running.
  • Working collaboratively with team members and key stakeholders to ensure that best practices are followed consistently.
  • Second line support to learners and courses teams and communicate with suppliers.
  • Testing new features / update of tools and open edX platform.

Requirements

  • You have a Bachelor's degree preferably in IT or a comparable level, based on work experience.
  • You have experience in administrating an IT application or platform.
  • You have experience with SaaS systems and test methodologies.
  • You have experience with a LAMP stack.
  • It is a pre if you have experience with learning technology.
  • You have affinity with online learning.
  • You can handle the dynamics of your work well and perform your duties, even when unexpected changes occur.
  • You enjoy working in an international environment in which the working language is English.
  • You preferably speak Dutch.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

  • Duration of contract is 1 year with the prospect of permanent.
  • A job of 32-40 hours per week.
  • A salary based on scale 10 of the CAO for Dutch Universities with a minimum of € 2.836,- and a maximum of € 4.474,- gross per month, plus 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.

‘Educate the World and enhance the quality of TU Delft campus and online education’. This is the mission of the TU Delft Extension School for Continuing Education. A mission that has been determining in all thinking and acting within our innovation-oriented educational organisation since its foundation in 2014.

We focus on online university further education. Along with external partners and the faculties of TU Delft, we develop and provide courses and short programs for external target groups. Think of international students with a Bachelor's or Master's degree, who want to develop further through online education. And to people who have been in the labour process for a while and want to brush up on their skills. Upon completion, our students receive an officially (accredited) certificate for the educational module(s) they have taken.

The Extension School has recently become an independent organisation within TU Delft. Our management team reports directly to the Executive Board. We work with about thirty colleagues from our own office on the university campus. An international team with expert and passionate employees with more than ten different nationalities. Our culture is therefore very diverse!
