Job description

The Impact Policy Officer will be responsible for developing, embedding and supporting impact activities and will seek to maximise researcher engagement with non-academic audiences and research users, in order to create opportunities for impact. You will provide strategic advice and practical support to a variety of stakeholders within the Institute of Management Research (IMR). You will act as point of contact, working with academics to identify and extend their opportunities for impact.

Together with other support staff you will build and manage an effective system of capturing impact by creating a reportable database of impact projects and case studies. These will be used to raise the profile of the research impact of IMR, both internally and externally, and support the Faculty's external evaluation process. You will provide specialist advice on impact to academic staff, for example, on how to understand, assess and collect evidence of the external impact of their research and publications or other related outputs. You will support academics in the development and preparation of impact case studies, including ensuring impacts are clearly evidenced. The impact case studies will cover the whole range of IMR disciplines. This will also involve working with academic colleagues in identifying opportunities for non-academic dissemination, engagement, collaborations (academic and industrial) and impact at all stages of the research process.

You will lead on the progression of impact case studies, including information gathering, drafting and involving relevant staff as appropriate, and delivering presentations and workshops on developing impact, creating case studies and gathering evidence.

Your tasks will be supervised and coordinated by the Director of Research. As the IMR Research Services team is also involved in valorisation, research ethics and research data management, and quality reviews of the institute, new members of the team are also expected to bring in or develop expertise on some of these fields.
