Job description

Are you an established researcher with expertise in human behaviour and decision-making? Then you have a part to play as a postdoc. Your experimental research on fundamental decision behaviour will be devoted to addressing societal challenges, such as promoting healthy and sustainable behaviour.

Decision-making is at the core of our lives, from individual choices ('Should I eat healthier?') to social choices that impact others ('Should I recycle?'). In addition to the obvious inherent scientific interest of developing greater insight into an essential human behaviour, a better understanding of how people make choices is of paramount importance to public policy and practice, where more complete knowledge of how we decide can have real impact on people's lives ('How can we ensure people make healthy decisions?' 'How do we promote sustainable behaviour'?).

We seek an outstanding candidate whose research interests lie in exploring human behaviour and decision-making, and who is interested in conducting multidisciplinary research with societal relevance. We are especially interested in someone who can conduct experimental research on fundamental decision behaviour which can be used to help inform policy and/or practice. Your role will include collaborating with researchers across disciplines on research projects related to one or more of the following topics: social equality, environmental sustainability, good health and well-being, quality education, democracy and conflict resolution, and digitalisation and society. A specific research focus will be decided together with the Director of the Radboud Center for Decision Science, in line with your expertise and interests.

The position will include taking the lead on designing and conducting experimental research, ideally focusing on underlying psychological and/or neural processes. You will also be expected to conduct literature reviews, generate and refine research questions, write manuscripts reporting the results of analyses for publication in academic outlets, disseminate research findings at conferences and workshops, participate in public outreach activities, and be involved in the supervision of students. You will thus have the opportunity to develop your research skills and work on important scientific questions that have societal impact.
