Job description

As part of a continuing growth initiative, the Management Department of Tilburg University, the Netherlands, invites applications for the open rank (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) position in information management. We welcome the applications from individuals with research interests in business analytics, applied artificial intelligence, FinTech, online platforms, emerging technologies, or in the broad domain of digital transformation with a focus on information and technologies. We are looking for candidates who can contribute to top publications at UT Dallas journals and other evidence of scholarly impact, plus evidence of teaching, service and grant leadership ability when applicable.

Requirements

The candidate must have obtained, or expect to obtain shortly, a Ph.D. in Information Systems, Information Management, Information Science, Management Science, or a closely related field. We hire applicants to join the Department on 1 August 2022. 

Conditions of employment

For the position of Assistant Professor, we offer a full-time tenure-track position for six years. Tenure decisions for Assistant Professors are made in their fifth year. For the fulltime position of Associate Professor or Full Professor, we offer a permanent contract. The salary is based on the Collective Labour Agreement Universities (vsnu.nl)
 
You are entitled to a holiday allowance amounting to 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% of your gross yearly income. Faculty moving to the Netherlands may be eligible for 30% tax abatement for a period of five years.

Department

The Department of Management

Within the Department, the Information and Supply Chain Management (ISCM) section conducts research in information management from a variety of theoretical and methodological perspectives to lead digital transformation and take on current societal challenges. The members of the Department, including its ISCM section, are listed here. Department members come from leading universities in North America, Asia, and Europe. We are a diverse and collegial group of research-oriented colleagues, including a terrific group of junior and recently hired scholars. The working language of the Department and the School is English. In addition to the bachelor’s programs, the Department is hosting five master’s programs, including MSc Information Management (IM) and International Master in Management of IT (IMMIT). In addition, the Department houses Ph.D. programs, which prepare researchers for productive academic careers with excellent international placements. 
 
The Department has a very strong research orientation with a focus on high-quality publications. Faculty members publish widely in UT Dallas journals such as MISQ, ISR, JOC, and MgtSci, among others. Faculty members have also successfully acquired project grants at the organizational, institutional, country and European levels. We aim to maximize the research time available to research-active faculty. Research time allocation for the tenure-track Assistant Professor is 60%. Research time allocation for tenured faculty is a function of individual performance, but research towards publications in top journals remains a priority at all ranks. Compensation is competitive and among the top in the Dutch universities. In addition, we provide guaranteed travel and starting research budgets. Faculty moving to the Netherlands may be eligible for 30% tax abatement for a period of five years.
