Job description

In the research project ‘I-GNSS positioning for assisted and automated driving’, there is a vacancy for a Postdoc-researcher for two years. The I-GNSS project started last year and is carried out by a research team, currently consisting of two PhD-students, an associated researcher from industry, and two senior staff-members of the Department of Geoscience and Remote Sensing, at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences of Delft University of Technology.

The research project aims to develop reliable centimetre-level interferometric-GNSS (I-GNSS) positioning for assisted and automated driving. To this end we address detection theory for real-time kinematic (RTK) carrier-phase positioning in the context of multi-frequency, multi-constellation GNSS. Statistical hypothesis testing, as well as its performance evaluation, will be set-up as to accommodate multiple competing sources of threats and faults in the measurement system, while taking into account the so-far unrecognized impact statistical testing has on the distribution of the estimator for the position or state. The project comprises theoretical development, implementation, simulation and testing of developments in prototype and practice, as well as design and optimization of the statistical testing procedure.

The current team is to be completed by a Postdoc-researcher. The focal point of this position is the theoretical foundation of multi-variate and distributed statistical testing. Candidates are required to have a strong background in mathematical statistics, signal processing and GNSS. Candidates are expected to have a PhD-degree in a relevant discipline (such as mathematics, electrical engineering, computer science, or satellite navigation), good command of English, as well as excellent analytical and programming skills, and a proven ability to find elegant and creative solutions to challenging problems.
