Job description

The offered job involves a combination of junior lecturer and junior researcher, each 50% of the employment contract.

As junior lecturer, you will perform a variety of tasks as assigned within two public health education programmes, one at the bachelor and one at the master level. These programmes are the Bachelor of European Public Health (BEPH) and Master of Governance and Leadership in European Public Health (MGLEPH), respectively. Both programmes fall within the Faculty of Health, Medicine, and Life Sciences at Maastricht University.

As junior researcher, you will participate in research focused on the implementation of the European Health Union (EHU), the European integration project in the area of health of the time. The aim of the study is to create policy relevant evidence that can be taken up in the design and operation of the EHU and its elements.

Requirements

  • A completed MSc in public health, health sciences, healthcare management or social sciences
  • Openness to and interest in performing a wide-variety of educational tasks including tutoring, training, lecturing, assessment, support to course design and course management and various other related activities;
  • First experiences in conducting literature reviews and research methods to provide policy advice as proven by a Master (and Bachelor) thesis or other activities
  • Good understanding of the EU policy making process and the features of the EU’s health mandate
  • Intention to publish research results, interest in other forms of science communication
  • Flexible, proactive and independent
  • Ability to work with a team-spirit and within an environment with ongoing time-sensitive deadlines;
  • High degree of computer and internet literacy;
  • High level of fluency in written and spoken English.

 

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 3 years.

Fixed-term contract: 3 years, starting date 15 August/1 September 2022

Fixed-term contract for 3 years full-time comprising 0.5 FTE (50%) work in education and 0.5 FTE (50%) in research.  

The salary will be set in salary scale 10 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (from € 2.846,00 to € 4.490,00 gross per month depending on experience and qualifications, based on a full-time appointment). On top of this, there is a 8% holiday allowance and a 8.3% year-end allowance.
