“Join the quantum revolution, join QuTech!

Job description

QuTech
QuTech is a mission-driven research institute run jointly by Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). Together, we work on a radically new technology with world-changing potential, developing scalable prototypes of a quantum computer and an intrinsically safe quantum internet.
We are creating the quantum future, and we believe that quantum technology will be a game changer in many social and economic sectors – including health, agriculture, climate and safety. To achieve our ambitious goals, we bring together scientists, engineers and industry in an inspiring environment, with plenty of space for ambition, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Our research and engineering activities are conducted in three divisions: Quantum ComputingQuantum Internet and Qubit Research.
220 FTE and over 300 curious people work in our divisions and support teams, and we actively search and welcome many more new colleagues who share our vision and enthusiasm.

This Post Doc position will be for Quantum Computing division within the Scappucci Lab group.

Quantum computing division

Realising the promise of a quantum computer requires the development of different layers of hardware and software, together referred to as the quantum computing stack. This is what we do in the Quantum Computing Division. The basis of the stack, referred to as the ‘quantum chip’, contains the qubits. We are investigating different types of approaches for this part of the stack: electron spins in quantum dots and superconducting quantum circuits. Also, we are developing the system architecture that connects and translates quantum algorithms to the low-level pulses that operate on the qubits of quantum processors. The quantum Computing Division is now looking to expand with a creative, eclectic Postdoc that has expertise in RF measurements at low-temperature.

Responsibilities and Tasks

The mission of the Scappucci Lab is to develop the best materials for quantum computing. To empower quantum computing, you will uncover the requirements of materials that will enable qubits for the quantum information age of tomorrow. Specifically, your goal will be to measure and correlate the properties of qubits with the properties of the silicon-germanium materials hosting them. Our silicon and germanium-based quantum materials have been pivotal to landmark experiments in the field of quantum information. These quantum materials are also used by many researchers overseas for the development of quantum technologies. Join our team to be part of the thriving scientific community in Delft and contribute to the next step in the marathon towards a quantum computer.
