This is a job opportunity for an Assistant Professor in Jurisprudence, in the department of Public Law and Governance (PLG). PLG is a large, diverse and interdisciplinary department, home to nearly 100 academic staff and a range of legal and social science disciplines. You will develop and grow in teaching as well as research, both individually and as part of a team of ambitious scholars.
  
As an assistant professor of Jurisprudence, you develop and teach courses in the Dutch Law bachelor (for instance, Inleiding tot de Rechtswetenschap, Rechtswetenschap, and The World’s Legal Systems) and in the Liberal Arts bachelor (for instance, Law in Society), and you supervise bachelor and master’s theses. You develop your own research in the context of the department’s broad, interdisciplinary “Signature Plan” on “Global Law and Governance”, and in line with the disciplinary profile of the position. You become part of a team of jurisprudence scholars who work on issues such as democratic governance and the rule of law, transnational strategic litigation, transnational legal theory, refugee politics, law and race, freedom of expression, and climate change. 40% of the appointment is dedicated to teaching, 40% to research, and 20% to administration.

You have a PhD in Law or in a related field. You have a research profile in jurisprudence understood broadly, such as legal theory, comparative law or sociology of law. Your potential to grow in the field of research is preferably evident from peer-reviewed international publications. You are willing to apply for external research funding. You have scientific integrity and will contribute to an open and diversified culture of excellence. You have demonstrable teaching experience and good didactic skills. In addition, you are a collaborator with good communication skills. You have a Basic Teaching Qualification (BKO) or are prepared to acquire one within the first year of your appointment. You are committed to becoming an active member of our team, the department, and the school.

This is a position for 0.8 -1.0 FTE (32-40 hours per week). 

The salary amounts to a minimum of €3,821 and a maximum of €5,230 gross per month for full-time employment, based on UFO profile Assistant Professor 2 and salary scale 11 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. Tilburg University uses a neutral remuneration system for salary scaling that is based on relevant education and work experience.

This is a vacancy for a permanent position in accordance with Article 2.3 paragraph 1 of the CLA for Dutch universities and concerns a temporary employment contract with permanent prospects. You will initially be given a temporary employment contract for the duration of 12 (internal candidates) or 18 months (external candidates), with the prospect of permanent employment.

You are entitled to a vacation allowance of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% of your gross annual income. If you work 40 hours per week, you will receive 41 paid days of leave per year.
