Making sure we have the best learning spaces in the Netherlands, that is your goal as project leader innovative learning spaces of Maastricht University. You respond to the changes in the way of studying of all of our 22.000 students. Your creative mind will have an enormous impact on our future!

Job description

To give our students the best study-experience and to ensure the quality, we offer three kinds of study places. Our study places focus on concentration, collaboration and communication. Several services complement these study places, such as well-being rooms, meeting places and technical equipment. You are going to expand on this vision. You will keep an eye on trends and developments in this field and you will translate them into innovative concepts. You will always work with our users, the students, in mind. You will also engage in:

  • advising our management team and assisting the teams on the development of the learning spaces. You will also advise on hybrid study-environments
  • initiating research into study behaviour, together with UM research partners. You will be the contact person, responsible for the circulation of the results
  • looking for, and participating in, interesting collaboration opportunities and network partners both in- and outside the UM
  • building a community-hub on the learning spaces with colleagues within the UM

Requirements

You are an excellent project-based worker. As project leader innovative learning spaces you are a creative but also an abstract thinker. You always coordinate your ideas with other parties. Converting thoughts and theory into practical and manageable assignments and guarding the feasibility and progress is what you do best.

Furthermore, you have:

  • a HBO/Bachelor degree
  • relevant work experience as a hospitality officer. For instance as an events manager, a hotel manager, a project coordinator or a designer
  • experience in user-experience techniques and – methods and in the developing of concepts
  • the courage to think out of the box and you are not afraid to experiment with ideas
  • excellent oral and written communication skills, in both English and Dutch

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: initially you will get a contract for 1 year, which in case of good performance will be extended to a permanent contract.

As project leader innovative learning spaces you will have a 30.4 hours workweek. We offer:

  • a gross monthly salary of maximum € 5.230 based on a full-time appointment (38 hours/week) depending on qualifications and work experience
  • the possibility to work hybrid, with all facilities
  • the possibility to begin as soon as you can
  • various options for education and training
  • a holiday allowance of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% of the annual income
  • several additional benefits, such as flexible workhours and leave days: 232 leave-hours per year on a full-time employment, the option to work an extra 2 hours each week, building up to a yearly extra 96 leave-hours. Furthermore, you will have extra days off on Carnival Monday and Tuesday, Good Friday and Liberation day. A pension scheme, the possibility to work from home (including the facilities) and a CAO á la carte are also part of the agreement

You play an important part in our University Library (UL). We are an essential partner in research and education for the UM. Our main aim is the promotion of knowledge development and distribution within the UM community. We are constantly improving our services and support, even in a worldwide crisis. For instance, we have managed to optimize our digital learning environment even more during the COVID_19 pandemic. Moreover, we have provided physical study places for students who were not able to study from home. Thinking in possibilities, that is the UL.
