About our team

The team management support and research policy of the department of Mathematics and Computer Science supports the department board at an organizational and strategic level. The team is responsible for gathering and providing of management information, drafting and adjusting policy in cooperation with scientific staff to implement policy that helps researchers in their daily operations. In addition, a core task of the team is the preparation of meeting agendas and documents and presentations by the board.

What will you do?

As policy advisor your main objective is to support and advice the department board with respect to research policy matters and general departmental and university policies  You are responsible for providing and gathering management information through result analysis of key performance indicators, for drafting policy documents and informing stakeholders about research developments, scientific prizes and milestones. In this role you also are responsible for quality assurance in the research domain. You set up the annual report on research and you coordinate the research assessments and mid-term reviews for the department. Also, you are the contact for questions regarding the information management systems Pure and HoraFinita.

You will carry out all activities in close cooperation with the board secretary, the policy advisor education and representatives of the scientific staff of the department.

You will be part of the team management support and research policy. You may be requested to handle or support other tasks within this team, where necessary, such as the annual update of the department regulations. You will report to the board secretary of the department.

Requirements

As a candidate you have
  • An academic background (MSc or PhD level)
  • 5 years of relevant experience as policy advisor
  • Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills, accuracy
  • Excellent organization and planning skills and well-structured in your work
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral); high proficiency in Dutch and English
  • Both independent and team-player, where sincerity and collegiality are highly valued
  • Preferably affinity with mathematics, computer science and/or data science in higher education and research

Conditions of employment

We offer you:

  • The salary will depend on your knowledge, experience and education, and will be a minimum of € 3821 and a maximum of € 5230 gross per month on a full-time basis (scale 11 Collective Labor Agreement for the Dutch Universities).
