Job description

The researchers in the Humans & Technology (H&T) research theme in this department perform high-quality multidisciplinary scientific research at the intersection of humans and technology, and translate fundamental research insights into viable applications, services, and policies. Researchers use various labs and equipment to perform experiments with participants.

The Social robotics lab consists of a space with various types of intelligent robots. The research in the Social robotics lab aims to create responsible and socially intelligent robots that can be adopted in a wide variety of human environments.

In the Virtual reality lab people can become fully immersed in virtual worlds. On the one hand, this allows us to study behaviour in the virtual worlds, that are invading our life. The virtual reality lab also enables us to precisely track peoples' behaviour. And we can use the virtual reality to create situations that are otherwise very hard or impossible to create.

The position includes software development and support for various labs and equipment including the Social robotics lab and the Virtual reality lab among others.

Tasks

Software development of various lab applications
  • Development and maintenance of software applications for various labs.
  • Documentation of the developed software.

Virtual reality lab support
  • Development of VR environments and 3D objects.
  • Writing interactive VR applications in Vizard, Unity or Unreal Engine.
  • Maintenance of VR equipment

Social robotics lab support
  • Programming robot actions.
  • Maintenance of the robots

Instruction
  • Writing instructional material about the use of the software applications.
  • Giving aural instructions to students and staff.

Requirements

  • A completed degree in Technical software engineering at HBO-bachelor level.
  • Experience with .NET (C #), Python, Lua, Unity and/or Unreal Engine (C++) is an advantage.
  • Communicative and skilled in spoken and written English.
  • You enjoy working in a dynamic environment.
