QuTechQuTech is a mission-driven research institute run jointly by Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). Quantum Internet DivisionA future quantum internet will connect quantum computers all over the world. It will enable to send and receive information using quantum bits that follow the rules of quantum mechanics. In the Quantum Internet division, our goal is to develop technologies to enable quantum communication between any two places on earth.For this radically new technology several major new and potentially game-changing applications have already been identified. One such application is to provide a fundamentally secure way of communication, in which privacy is guaranteed by the laws of physics. Also, quantum processors can be connected into a quantum network in order to assemble a large quantum computing cluster. This approach is called networked quantum computing and offers a natural path towards scalability. Combining a quantum internet and a networked quantum computer allows remote users/providers to perform secure quantum computing ‘in the cloud’.Our goals are to: 1. Develop a full quantum network stack and novel applications for a quantum internet; 2. Perform experimental demonstrations, some of which already compatible with existing telecom infrastructure, that push the frontier of quantum networking and yield new techniques and insights; 3. Develop and exploit multi-qubit quantum processors for use in quantum internet and networked computing, with current focus on diamond-based spin qubits.
Job description
The role of Programme Manager/Division Coordinator
Well positioned between the divisions and central support staff, you will be the linking pin on matters pertaining to the operation of the division. You will report hierarchically to the Director Operations and functionally to the Division Management Team.
The Division Coordinator is responsible for the operational and financial planning in the division. This is a crucial role within the Division and asks the most of your coordinative skills. Furthermore, depending on profile and interests, the Division Coordinator can take on extra tasks as programme manager of various projects and/or as project developer.
Responsibilities and tasks
The Division Coordinator gives continuous support to the DMT and Board of Directors by:
- Supporting the (multi)annual strategic planning of the division
- Coordinating the (multi)annual operational, personnel and financial planning of the division
- Managing the annual agenda, keeping track of repeating activities, such as reviews, call for proposals etc.
- Supervising the division support staff, such as the programme managers, management assistants and some of the (technical) project staff
- Coordinating and preparing divisional meetings, progress and budgeting reports
- Coordinating outreach/external communication (events, press releases, annual report)

Requirements
Education
- Academic or HBO (preferably degree in natural science)
- Project management certification, is a plus
- Workable knowledge of engineering, computer science or physics and affinity with Quantum science
Work experience
- >3 years' experience as Program Manager or similar role, preferably in an academic environment
- Experienced in (project) planning and processing budget overviews (finance and personnel)
- Experienced people manager
- Knowing how to navigate in complex settings with many internal and external stakeholders
- Affinity with large multidisciplinary R&D and ability to keep the overview of different disciplines
- A link to QuTech’s mother organizations, either in TU Delft or in TNO, is a plus

Conditions of employment
Fixed-term contract: 1 year.
This offer contains a temporary appointment (0.8-1 FTE) for 1 year with the prospect of a permanent contract. The UFO Profile is that of Project Manager 2 (scale 13). The full-time salary based on VSNU-CAO Scale 13 ranges from 5.275 to 6.421 euros monthly on full-time basis. The actual salary will be based on your knowledge and relevant work-experience. Full-time means 38 working hours per week.
