Are you interested in transforming academic research to support societal transitions? We are looking for a proactive, entrepreneurial and collaborative academic who wants to work with us on the transition of EUR and the scientific development of transformative research.
About the Design Impact Transition (DIT) platform – the space for transformative and transdisciplinary work at EUR
DIT platform is a strategic EUR initiative that empowers new ways of doing research, education and engagement in the support of societal transitions towards just and sustainable futures. DIT develops new institutional conditions and designs to strengthen transdisciplinary and impact-oriented academic work, based on collaboration, engagement and academic entrepreneurship. We work on various activities, including creating a community on transformative academic work, developing educational programmes (minors and a master’s programme) and setting up research projects.
We understand transformative research as follows: “transformative research aims to address the grand challenges of our time by creating and deploying new ideas, methods, and tools to challenge, alter and replace current unsustainable formal and informal institutions. It is based on systems thinking and includes transdisciplinary research endeavours that allow for creating scientifically valid and socially robust knowledge, with the mission of fostering sustainability transitions” (DIT Narrative for Change, November 2021).
To further develop transformative research, we are looking for a talented mid-career academic who does not necessarily aspire to a conventional academic career but would like to help create a new academic environment together with likeminded academics in which researchers can work with practitioners on impactful and engaged research for just and sustainable futures.
