Job description

In this project, we will use both theoretical and experimental techniques to study neural mechanisms that enable flexible context-dependent timing of movements using rodent models. The project entails computational modeling of cortico-thalamic circuitry and electrophysiological investigations of neural activity in the thalamo-cortical circuit during augmented-reality timing behaviors. Our long-term goals are to help ameliorate motor-timing deficits in patients by developing appropriate regimes of closed-loop stimulation (electrical and optogenetic) and providing scientific insight on these methods and mechanisms to our clinical partners.

Erasmus MC

This project will be carried out at the Temporal Dynamics Group, which is a close-knit team embedded in the Department of Neuroscience at Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam and is part of a national initiative known as the Dutch Brain Interface Initiative, funded by the NWO Gravitation program. Postdoc candidates in the consortium will benefit from being part of a large community of like-minded trainees spanning multiple fields ranging from electrical engineering to neuroscience.

The Temporal Dynamics group is affiliated with both the Erasmus Medical Center and the Technical University Delft, providing students with both computational and clinical resources for projects. Rotterdam is a vibrant city, just 30 minutes away from Amsterdam. It has previously been featured in the New York Times '52 Places To Visit' list for its constantly-evolving architecture, music, art, and food scene.
