You will participate in a lively team of around 25 colleagues (assistant-, associate, and full professors, lecturers, PhD students) who are working on advancing our understanding of work behaviour to positively influence healthy and safe working.

You will be part of the Work, Health and Performance research programme of the Behavioural Science Institute (BSI) and the Work & Organisational Psychology group of the School of Psychology, both part of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Radboud University. You will join a lively 25-strong team (assistant, associate, and full professors, lecturers, and PhD candidates) who are working on topics such as stress, fatigue, recovery, motivation, new ways of working, healthy and safe working, workplace injustice, and physical activity/inactivity.

We are looking for an assistant professor whose expertise fits our mission of understanding and promoting healthy and safe working in a changing society. As an assistant professor, you will conduct solid and sound research with the aim of having a significant scientific and social impact. You will also contribute to inspiring and innovative teaching in psychology. Your expertise will connect with - and be complementary to - our current expertise on the psychology of fatigue, hybrid working and sustainable well-being, safety and moral behaviour, and/or sedentary work and physical activity. We are especially interested in candidates who take an interest in fatigue, stress, recovery, and/or health behaviour (e.g. physical activity during leisure time or sedentary behaviour at work) in relation to work, health, motivation and performance, but we invite all candidates who can initiate and drive innovation within the field of Work and Organisational Psychology to apply.

We offer a combined (50%) teaching and (50%) research position. Teaching in Work & Organisational Psychology is at the Bachelor's and Master's degree levels. You will mostly teach in one or more subdisciplines: occupational health psychology, HRM psychology, and organisational psychology. You will supervise students in thesis projects at the Bachelor's and Master's levels. Teaching will be in Dutch and English.

You will regularly apply for external grant-based funding. You will also be expected to participate in management tasks, including committee memberships, selection committees, and recruitment activities.

• You hold a PhD degree in work and organisational psychology, occupational health psychology, or a related discipline (e.g. social and health psychology, health sciences, exercise psychology, or occupational medicine).
• You have a good track record in scientific research (in proportion to the research time available), as evidenced by publications in international academic journals.
• You embrace the values of 'open science' and strive for replicable and transparent research.
• You have knowledge of, and are familiar with, diverse and advanced research methods and techniques.
• You have the ability and willingness to regularly apply for external (national or international) grant funding. Evidence of earlier successful grant application will be a plus.
• You have the ability and willingness to translate your research to a broader audience in the field.
• You have the ability and willingness to contribute to organisational tasks.
• You have an inspiring teaching style and expertise in teaching at an academic level, a university teaching qualification (UTQ), or the willingness to obtain a UTQ as soon as possible.
• You have an excellent command of written and spoken English (at C1 level).
• You have a good command of spoken and written Dutch (or the willingness to learn Dutch within two years).
• You are a team player who is enthusiastic about team science and has good social, communication and organisational skills.

Fixed-term contract: This is a temporary position for 1 year with the possibility of a permanent position.

• It concerns an employment for 1.0 FTE.
• The gross monthly salary amounts to a minimum of €3,974 and a maximum of €6,181 based on a 38-hour working week, depending on previous education and number of years of relevant work experience (salary scale 11 or 12). 
• You will receive 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
• This is a temporary position for one year with the possibility of a permanent contract.

You will contribute to the Work, Health and Performance (WHP) research programme (led by Prof. Wolter Pieters and Prof. Sabine Geurts), the Bachelor’s degree programme in Psychology (domain: Behaviour and Environment), the Master’s degree programme in Work, Organisation and Health (WOH), and the Research Master’s programme in Behavioural Science. 
The WHP programme examines human behaviour in the increasingly dynamic context of work and organisations. Our theoretical aim is to advance our understanding of work behaviour, and related cognitive, affective, and motivational processes, by integrating perspectives from different (psychological) disciplines. Our applied aim is to use this knowledge to positively influence antecedents, processes, and outcomes of healthy and safe working in current and future society. Our research programme focuses on four interrelated research lines: 1) Psychology of fatigue (by integrating different perspectives from psychology, we aim to understand the nature and consequences of mental fatigue, also in the context of work, exercise and social relationships); 2) Hybrid working and sustainable well-being (we examine the challenges and opportunities of hybrid working in terms of work-life balance, remote leadership, and equality and social inclusion); 3) Safety and moral behaviour (we study the factors that contribute to safe/unsafe and moral/immoral behaviour and social responsibility in work environments); and 4) Sedentary work and physical activity (we study the psychological processes that drive sedentary behaviour and physical activity as they emerge before, during and after mental work by using technology that continuously tracks people’s physical activity).

We conduct laboratory experiments, longitudinal field studies, and applied intervention and implementation studies, and combine self-report measures with objective behavioural, psycho-physiological, and/or neurocognitive measurements. We use open science practices, value and contribute to (interdisciplinary) team science and collaborate intensively with scientific and applied partners. The group is open, positive, collaborative and inclusive. The group meets weekly for inspiring research meetings.

The Behavioural Science Institute (BSI) is a multidisciplinary research institute and one of the three research institutes in the Faculty of Social Sciences at Radboud University. Our researchers collaborate across the boundaries of psychology, educational science, and communication science. Our mission is to strengthen people through understanding the foundations of human behavior, by creating synergy between different paradigms and by facilitating craftsmanship, curiosity and connection in academic research. BSI has seven research programmes covering three major research themes: 1) development and learning, 2) health and mental health, and 3) social processes and communication. BSI conducts fundamental as well as applied/translational research and has excellent facilities and support for lab and field research.

The School of Psychology (PSY) has approximately 1800 students. The Bachelor’s degree programme in Psychology is a lively international programme with a yearly admission of about 600 students. The Master’s degree programme in Psychology has three specialisations that help to prepare students for an academic or professional career: Work, Organisation and Health; Health Care Psychology; and Behaviour Change. PSY offers Research Master’s programmes in Behavioural Science (in association with BSI) and Cognitive Neuroscience (in association with the Donders Institute).
