Job description

Maastricht University (UM) is looking for a coordinator who will serve as a knowledge broker, linking pin, and innovator by bringing together existing research on education, learning and innovation across Maastricht University faculties and institutes. The aim is to build on Maastricht University’s international expertise in the topic ‘Learning & Innovation’ and ignite multi- or interdisciplinary and interfaculty research on these topics. The coordinator is part of the steering group ‘Learning & Innovation’.

Experience or affinity with educational/learning research is strongly recommended, as is the ability to discover new (global) trends in educational/learning research and aid in translating these to Maastricht University context. Communicating with stakeholders within and outside of Maastricht University is also part of the role. You are a discussion partner for the Executive Board, the EDLAB board, faculty boards and researchers at the faculties.

About EDLAB

The position will be placed at EDLAB, the Maastricht University Institute for Education Innovation. At EDLAB, we promote an optimal learning experience for students of Maastricht University by advancing the field of teaching and learning for both students and staff. We define innovation as the process of creating new ideas and practices to address educational needs – to do different things, and doing things differently.

EDLAB is located in the Tapijn Barracks, close to Maastricht’s city centre.

Tasks

  • To help develop and implement a vision that further strengthens Maastricht University’s expertise in the topic ‘Learning and Innovation’ (locally, regionally, nationally, internationally);
  • To bring together information, identify links, and maintain an overview of research on ‘Learning and Innovation’ at Maastricht University;
  • To stimulate multi- and interdisciplinary and interfaculty research on ‘Learning and Innovation’ at Maastricht University;
  • To contribute to the harmonization and embedding of recently awarded Growth Fund projects in relation to the themes ‘Learning & Innovation’ within Maastricht University faculties;
  • To promote Maastricht University ‘Learning and Innovation’ research locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally (within academic and non-academic communities);
  • To act as secretary to the Steering Board ‘Learning and Innovation’.

  • Who has excellent oral and written skills, both in Dutch and English;
  • Who has an academic working and thinking level; a university master’s degree in educational sciences (or comparable). A PhD in any field related to education is a plus;
  • Who is familiar with problem-based learning.

Conditions of employment

  • The 0.8 FTE position is initially offered for 1 year
  • The gross monthly salary of this appointment will depend on education and relevant working experience, based on salary scale 11 of the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) of the Dutch Universities, with an expected minimum of € 3.974,00 and a maximum of € 5.439,00 per month (based on a full-time position of 38 hours/week).
  • In addition, there is an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end allowance.
