Challenge: Develop innovative interdisciplinary solutions to protect AI, systems, web and hardware.
Change: Drive robust defences against cyberattacks.
Impact: The security and safety of our connected world.

Job description

In our connected world, cybersecurity is crucial. From automated storm surge barriers and hospitals to solar panels and autonomous cars: everything’s a potential target. And as we increasingly rely on AI-based decisions, analysis and insights, research into cybersecurity faces ever greater challenges. Working in this multidisciplinary field at TU Delft, you will contribute to the security of our society as a whole. As our scope expands rapidly, the Cybersecurity Group (CYS) of TU Delft’s Computer Science Department has various openings for assistant professors. Or, if you aspire to a more senior role, you could join us as an associate professor.

You may specialise your research into the security of artificial intelligence, systems, web or hardware. Alternatively, you may take on a wider research scope, integrating these fields. Depending on your vision, you’ll be working on challenges ranging from robust machine learning immune to data poisoning and manipulation, the prevention of data exfiltration and intelligent auditing to preventing side-channel attacks, developing device fingerprinting techniques and the security of infrastructures, blockchain, etc. To attract funding for your research, you’ll build your network of industrial and public partners.

In addition, you’ll play an active role in our committees, as well as the scientific community, publishing and transferring knowledge. You’ll be teaching and supervising Master and PhD students of various faculties. At CYS you’ll join a team of driven assistant, associate and full professors and we currently supervise some 25 PhD students. Ours is a friendly and open environment, in which you’ll get all the support, training and coaching you need to grow your career to associate and full professor. And we work closely with equally driven partners in the international cybersecurity community, including government authorities, international universities, research centres and industry.
