As Project Manager you will be responsible for all organizational, contractual, and financial/administrative processes and communications. You will be the scientific lead’s right hand on managing consortium relationships, organizational and financial management, and delivery of the project.  You will safeguard deadlines, monitor progress, and prepare any non-scientific reports required by the project. You will work closely with Erasmus Research Services (ERS) which advances excellent research and knowledge transfer to maximize positive societal impact on EUR level. 

You are successful when all stakeholders are well informed, the project is compliant with regulations, and when your work enables the academic staff to focus on science.

You will be embedded within the ESHCC Research Office and partly (0.3 FTE) seconded to the Erasmus School of Law Research Office to support their projects. In your day to day, you will work very closely with colleagues such as the Grant Advisor, the finance and legal team, the scientific team, and the ERS team.

Required experience, skills, and competencies:

• Working and thinking level equivalent to a university degree or degree from a university of applied sciences;
• Three years of experience in managing multistakeholder projects;
• Experience with projects funded through the European Commission;
• Knowledge of and/or interest in project management methodologies;
• A good set of people skills;
• Accurate, solution oriented, and capable of dealing with tight deadlines;
• The capability to act as a trusted sparring partner for scientists and other partners in a consortium;
• The ability to recognize the challenges and opportunities of working in a team that is developing;
• Excellent communication skills (English necessary; Dutch preferred).

Fixed-term contract (0,8-0,9 FTE): Initially for one year, which may be converted to a permanent one after the first year depending on performance.

We offer internationally-oriented and varied employment within an enthusiastic team, with benefits in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU).  Your monthly gross remuneration as Research Project Manager will range between € 3.974,- and € 5.439,- depending on experience, in accordance with Scale 11 of CAO-NU.

Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication

The Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (ESHCC) is part of Erasmus University Rotterdam. The school has three departments: History,  Arts and Culture and Media & Communication. There are approximately 2500 students, over 220 employees.

ESHCC offers high quality education, based on scientific research, at the intersection of the Humanities and Social Sciences. We teach our ambitious, Dutch and international students in a stimulating learning environment. After graduation, they will have acquired the knowledge, insight and skills to make an important and inspiring contribution to an increasingly international society in which diversity plays a major role.

The ESHCC also has an ambitious research agenda. We want to strengthen our involvement in multidisciplinary research, expand the share of external funding in our total research funding and increase our social impact. Erasmus School of Law
The Erasmus School of Law (ESL) employs 500 members of staff and has around 6000 students. ESL offers bachelor programmes in Law, Tax Law and Criminology, with a focus on active academic learning. Students can subsequently choose from a wide variety of master programmes. ESL also collaborates in Double Degree programmes combining law and (business) economics or law and business administration and is one of the founders of the European Master in Law & Economics. Once students have completed their master’s degree, they may choose from several postgraduate tracks provided by Erasmus School of Law (in collaboration with Erasmus Academy and others).

The fundamental premise underlying academic research conducted at Erasmus School of Law is that law cannot be considered in splendid isolation or as an end in itself. It is embedded in an economic and social context that shapes law. At the same time, law itself shapes society and defines economic relationships.
