Job description

A 2-year Postdoctoral Researcher position is available in a collaborative project between the Gruβmayer Lab (https://www.tudelft.nl/grussmayerlab) in the Department of Bio Nanoscience (TU Delft) and the Kanaar lab (https://www.erasmusmc.nl/en/research/groups/kanaar-lab) in the Department of Molecular Genetics (Erasmus MC). The project can start from October 2022 and the vacancy will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

 

The Gruβmayer lab develops advanced 3D light microscopy methods (SMLM/SOFI/SIM, quantitative phase imaging) to perform quantitative studies in live cells to answer fundamental questions in molecular and cell biology. The Kanaar lab works on the understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of DNA repair from molecules in cells to patients.

 

In this project we will study the mechanisms by which DNA repair proteins organize themselves during the repair of DNA damage by novel single-molecule and super-resolution microscopy techniques in living cells. The postdoctoral researcher will perform live-cell microscopy experiments and contribute to image analysis. This project will be part of a network of postdocs working on projects that converge research done at TU Delft with Erasmus MC.

Requirements

We are looking for a creative, motivated and result-driven candidate that has recently completed a PhD in (bio)physics, molecular biology or related quantitative discipline, and has experimental experience in fluorescence imaging and analysis.

  • Experience in handling living biological samples is preferred.
  • Programming skills in Python or similar language is highly desirable.
  • The candidate should have a high degree of independence and should be capable of good time- and project-management.
  • Affinity for teaching and guiding students.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in expressing yourself verbally and in writing in English and proven affinity for scientific writing.
  • The ability to work in a team and take initiative.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 2 years.
