Job description

The Engineering Doctorate (EngD) programme Business & IT (BIT) offers you a 2-year position combining post MSc education and a design project to be carried out at KITT Engineering at Enschede.

The educational programme, carried out at the University of Twente, will have an in-depth and broadening character with ample attention for professional development and will be partly tailored to the design project. Together with KITT Engineering you will develop a high-level, creative solution for the given challenge.

Note: EngD replaces the PDEng degree as of 1 September 2022 in the whole country. This means that after successfully completing the programme you will receive a diploma with the EngD degree. EngD is used to denote the degree awarded in the United Kingdom (UK) in programmes that resemble ours. The Dutch technical universities changed the name of the PDEng degree because the Universities of Applied Science in the Netherlands will start with Professional Doctorate (PD) trajectories soon, so they wanted to avoid confusion between these trajectories and their own programmes at academic level. Only the name of the degree has changed; the content of the programmes has not been affected. If you want to know more, please read more here

The project: Supporting tools for developing certified products at KITT Engineering
In this project you will develop methods and tools to make sure products developed by KITT Engineering are certified. To achieve this goal, you will have to take both organisational and technological issues into consideration. These methods should follow from an ontological analysis of the processes and products of concern, and their relation to the business goals of the company. At the end of the project, concrete results should be delivered that consider the technical limitations of the implementation platforms used in the company and are aligned with the intuition of the engineers.

Strong analytical skills are therefore required, as well as some knowledge on business models, business processes and IT support, especially software development techniques. Communicative skills will also be an important factor in the selection process.
