Job description

Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.) has a tenure-track vacancy for an Assistant Professor. Of the position, 70% of the time is reserved for teaching activities and 30% is dedicated to research. You are expected to teach in the Bachelor's and Master's programs of the U.S.E. Teaching is in English. You are also expected to publish in international peer-reviewed journals and to contribute to Utrecht University's research themes 'Institutions for Open Societies' and/or 'Pathways to Sustainability'.

Requirements

The ideal candidate:
  • holds a doctorate in economics;
  • has an interest in labour economics;
  • is able to inspire students from undergraduate to graduate levels, and prior teaching experience is a plus;
  • has excellent communication and coordination skills;
  • has an excellent command of spoken and written English;
  • has a potential for excellence in research, targeting publications in good international peer-reviewed journals;
  • has knowledge of and experience with different research methods.

Conditions of employment

We offer a temporary position (0.8 - 1.0 FTE) for 18 months with the expectation of being rewarded a permanent tenure position after positive evaluation. The gross salary - depending on previous qualifications and experience - ranges between €3,974 and €5,439 (scale 11 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) per month for a full-time employment. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year.
