Job description

We are offering an exciting postdoctoral position within the pan-European PARC project. PARC is co-funded by the EU, with partners from academia, research organizations, government and small to major industries throughout Europe. The PARC project aims to support EU and national chemical risk assessment and risk management bodies with new data, knowledge, methods, networks, and skills to address current, emerging, and novel chemical safety challenges. The successful candidate will work on the development and application of regulatory relevant novel methods to describe exposure to individual chemicals and chemical mixtures and their health impact using human biomonitoring data. The application will be focused on European datasets collected as part of PARC.

Requirements

As the ideal candidate for this position, you are enthusiastic and ambitious, are an independent thinker, have excellent writing skills and are a team player. You hold a PhD in (computational) epidemiology, (medical) statistics, or a related discipline. Affinity with environmental health, human biomonitoring and/or OMICs data is valued. Furthermore, you have strong programming skills, and are comfortable working with large-scale data. You are willing to travel, have an appropriate publication record and are willing to apply for grant funding.

Candidates with the following skills are especially encouraged to apply:

  • Experience in statistical analyses with R;
  • Knowledge of preprocessing in high-dimensional (OMICs) data settings;
  • Experience with health impact assessment methodologies;
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills (written and spoken);
  • A strong motivation to work in a multidisciplinary international research team.

Conditions of employment

This is an appointment of 1.0 FTE for the duration of one year. In case of a good performance, extending the employment for three more years is a possibility. The minimum gross salary is €2,960 and the maximum gross salary is €4,670 (scale 10 of the Collective Labor Agreement of Dutch Universities) per month, at a full-time employment. Besides that, you will receive a holiday allowance of 8 % and a year-end bonus of 8.3 %.
