Working in multiple project teams, you’ll be designing, implementing, testing and operating highly complex automated manufacturing cells at SAM|XL. Our name says it all: we are TU Delft’s R&D centre for smart advanced manufacturing, focusing on automated production of very large, lightweight structures. One of the projects you’ll be involved in is “Penelope’: a large scale demonstrator for composite aircraft construction. And that means you’ll get to work on our massive gantry robot with its Siemens control system.
You’ll be programming industrial robots, programming and implementing PLCs, assembling mechatronic systems, designing and developing EEFs and integrating EEFs and peripheral equipment into the industrial robots, using data busing. As our work is experimental, you’ll also be involved in trials, based on which you will adapt and improve your designs, and implement the required changes in our robots. And as we work closely with our industrial clients and the TU Delft’s Faculties of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, you will also assist their researchers with experiment-related configurations.
Our tight-knit, multidisciplinary team of some twenty highly-motivated engineers will be your homebase. Together, we develop and build demonstrators for leading global industries and as part of EU-funded consortiums. SAM|XL
SAM|XL is an ambitious and energetic collaborative research centre at the Delft University of Technology (DUT) in the Netherlands with a focus on Industry4.0, cognitive robotics, automated manufacturing and AI. As a 100% subsidiary of DUT, SAM|XL aims at enabling advanced manufacturing companies (aerospace, maritime, wind energy) to make optimal use of Industry4.0 technology to improve the quality and sustainability of their products, whilst simultaneously reducing cost.
World-class research from both the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering and the Cognitive Robotics department of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is combined with challenges from industry.
