The Department of Macro, International and Labour Economics (MILE) at the School of Business and Economics (SBE) of Maastricht University is looking for a talented and enthusiastic colleague in the area of Macroeconomics, preferably with a focus on Monetary Economics.

Job description

The candidate’s profile focuses on applied – empirical – research in areas that match the department’s macroeconomic research interests, such as macroeconomic growth, resilience and sustainability, monetary and fiscal policy in an international context, and European integration. We expect the candidate to significantly contribute to the department’s research profile and connect to the spearhead theme MORSE (Maastricht Observatory on Resilient, Responsible & Sustainable Enterprise and Economy) and/or the research agenda of Studio Europa Maastricht.

Requirements

The applicant should hold a PhD degree in – quantitative – economics or related disciplines and preferably a few years of post-doctoral experience. Proven interest and expertise in macroeconomics in general and monetary economic particular is an advantage. The department appreciates an open mind to multidisciplinary research, non-mainstream approaches to economic research and the ambition to combine academic rigor with societal relevance. Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: Tenure Track.

At Maastricht University, the initial contract will be for 18 months. After one year, a formal assessment will lead to a tenure decision. When tenured, you will initially keep your rank as junior assistant professor but a career track towards senior assistant professor and subsequently associate professor will be developed.

You have to be willing to move to (the vicinity of) Maastricht. Depending on your personal situation, you will be eligible for an allowance for moving costs. Other secondary conditions include a pension scheme and partially paid parental leave.
