You will be part of the team that is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the NMR facility and its six spectrometers (300 to 600MHz) and contribute to the management of the facility. An important part of the tasks is to provide NMR training and -support for the (PhD)-students and Post Docs and their research. This includes advising on NMR experiments to solve specific research questions and providing assistance with interpretation of data. Additionally, you will advise scientific staff (group leaders) and institute director on new developments in NMR.

Research and teaching programs vary from nano science to astronomy, mathematics, chemistry and physics, from neuro science, molecular and evolutionary biology to chemical biology. Our researchers focus on fundamental and curiosity-driven research, in close collaboration with2 industry, health care, and societal bodies.

The NMR facility plays an important role in much of the ongoing chemistry-related research in several of the research institutes of the Faculty of Science & Engineering. The facility is embedded in the Stratingh Institute for Chemistry, which focuses on research in organic synthesis, catalysis, chemical biology, supramolecular chemistry, organic materials and molecular inorganic chemistry. The staff of the institute plays a central role in the education in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The NMR facility supports directly both ongoing research and practical chemistry education.

The Stratingh Institute for Chemistry is looking for a motivated NMR spectroscopist to support the operation of the NMR facility and the associated research and education.

- experience in operation and maintenance of NMR equipment and related computer/IT systems. Affinity with Linux OS and programming would be advantageous
- knowledge of- and affinity with organic and molecular inorganic chemistry and the use of 1D and 2D solution NMR in context of chemistry research and teaching
- an interest in new developments in NMR techniques and instrumentation and advising scientific staff on their application in ongoing research
- a proactive attitude
- good communication skills.

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

- a salary, depending on your experience of minimum € 2,960 up to a maximum of € 4,670 (salary scale 10) gross per month when fulltime a full-time position (1.0 FTE)
- a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income
- an 8.3% end-of-the-year allowance
- minimum of 29 holidays and additional 12 holidays in case of full-time employment.
