Job description

The Meteorology and Air Quality group at Wageningen University Research (WUR) invites applications for a tenure-track position in the field of atmospheric physics and/or meteorology. We seek applicants who bring research topics and methods that are complementary to those of other researchers in our group. Any approach(es), including experimental field work, numerical modelling, and theoretical analysis is of interest. Affinity with the current MAQ lines of meteorological research that range from local to global scales will be valued, especially with a link to land-atmosphere interactions. In addition to the above, you must have the potential for innovation and leadership in research.

The job also requires teaching at BSc and MSc level and advising of students, which amounts to approximately 40% of the time. On our website you find all the courses we teach which are all connected to our research. For this position, we seek applicants with capacity to give topics of atmospheric/climate dynamics, atmospheric boundary-layer or land-atmosphere interactions. Interesting to note here is the recognition of the excellent education offered in Wageningen. Our university was chosen as the best institution for higher education in the Netherlands for the 18th time in a row in 2022. Besides that, we are ranked as university as number 1 worldwide in the fields of agriculture, ecology and environment, as well as excellent rankings in other fields.

Furthermore, an important aspect of the job is the acquisition of research projects, both at national and international level, to fund new PhD and postdoc positions. Our ground-breaking approach is the combination of advanced measurements techniques with fine-scale numerical simulations. Examples of our work can be seen in these video's about our fieldwork: Amazonia field campaign and Amsterdam urban campaign or numerical simulations land-atmosphere interactions and on websites of current research projects: https://cloudroots.wur.nl/cloudroots/ and https://ruisdael-observatory.nl/.
