Job description 
As Business Analyst at the department Information Management, you support the Faculty of Science by designing and improving the business and information processes to support research, education and all executive departments.  

In your role, you can have a profound impact by driving changes and improvements of business processes and help the faculty to prepare for any future transformations in how it conducts research, education, and our supporting operations. You will join us at a pivotal moment as we face a range of interesting opportunities and challenges as the department is growing and maturing. 

As Business Analyst you work in a team with other professionals responsible for research data management, privacy and security. In collaboration with process owners and other stakeholders you design and optimize processes. Together with Enterprise and Data Architects, you are able to identify the data needed to accomplish the tasks and goal of a process.  

As Business Analyst you thrive at working independently and like to bring clarity on the specific information needs from our research- and knowledge driven organisation. You excel in designing and implementing processes that adhere to strategic guidance while catering to the unique requirements that our 10 Institutes may bring. 

To accomplish this, you will work closely with the Information Manager, Research Data Stewards, Privacy and Security Officers and manage interfaces with Enterprise Architects, Shared Service Centers, and other business analysts from Leiden University.

Requirements

What you bring 
This is a new role for which we encourage you to bring your own routine and methods. We do however have a preference if you could add the following knowledge and experiences to the job: 

  • A university or bachelor’s degree 
  • At least 3 years of experience as an information analyst, business process designer or business analyst 
  • Experience working in a complex organization, preferably in Education, Research Institute, or the Public Sector 
  • Achieved a Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt 
  • Knowledge of BPM 2.1, ArchiMate and/or TOGAF 
  • Process and data analysis involving complex ERP systems 
  • Knowledge and understanding of FAIR, Open Science principles, Research Data Management, and  

how researchers work 

  • Proficiency in Dutch and English (spoken and in word)  
  • Personal competencies are important in this function: you have skills of persuasion, network skills, strong communication skills and you are quality orientated, , curious, analytical and a team player.  

Conditions of employment

Terms and conditions 
We offer a full time 1 year position, with the possibility of a permanent position based on performance. Salary range from € 3.974,-  to € 5.439,-  gross per month (pay scale 11 in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
