Job description

About PPD:

The post-master designer program Product and Process Design (PPD) is one of the larger Engineering Doctorate (EngD) programs at TU/e with an intake of currently 20-25 trainees per year and is part of the faculty of Chemical Engineering & Chemistry.

The PPD program has been created in close collaboration with industry in response to the high-tech industry's urgent need for innovation and design engineers. After a strong selection, the best young engineers are trained in innovation and knowledge valorization in process and product design: How to best put theory into practice and transfer knowledge into value, i.e. how to create value by means of the creation of new and innovative processes or products.

The PPD is a two-year, full-time EngD program. The first year focuses on dedicated post-master courses often taught by people from industry to broaden and deepen knowledge on process and product design by working on industrially inspired assignments, often in teams. The second year consists of an assignment carried out for and at our industrial partners, including well-known international companies such as Shell, SABIC, DSM, FrieslandCampina, Jansen Pharmaceutica and Dow.

The program is directed at the broad field of the process and product industry and prepares our graduates for leading functions in the field of process design and knowledge-intensive product development. The objective is to develop their ability to define feasible targets, to identify and acquire the available means, and to synthesize these skills in the form of a completed result within the time agreed on. Linked to this all is the ability to work in and lead a usually multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and inspirational first-year coordinator to take care of the organization of the education for the first-year PPD students.

In this position you are responsible for:
  1. Curriculum: Create course schedules, maintain contact with teachers, support with exams, course material and software support, course evaluation with teachers, curriculum development and involving new teachers for new courses. Possibly teaching (part of) courses.
  2. Mentoring: Trainee contact point, discuss Training and Support Plans (TSP) with trainees including electives and professional skills development, progress evaluations with trainees in alignment/collaboration with coaches of professional development.
  3. Applications: First selection of online applications, facilitate second round of applications (via Teams and interview streams), interviewing applicants.
  4. Outreach and public relations: Organize information sessions both in the Netherlands and abroad (e.g. university of Porto, Belgrade, Alicante etc.). Maintain information about the PPD program on the website.
