Students, researchers and university teachers expect TU Delft Library’s scholarly communication and repository services to be of the highest quality. Which is why we are migrating our entire repository infrastructure to a new open access system. Embracing recommendations such as those from the COAR Next Generation Repositories report we will enhance usability, technical capabilities and interactive user engagement of our repository. Leading the code-based development work, you will play a key role in migrating and embedding this new repository.

Putting your keen interest in open science and repositories to good use, you research emerging trends, define architectures and develop new functionality and API integrations. Your eagerness to learn helps you take advantage of the latest developments, securing innovative solutions to benefit the library, the university and the scholarly community as a whole. 

Working with the senior technical developer, a project manager, the UX officer and the research infrastructures coordinator, you’ll integrate new functionality based on requirements gathered from users and library staff. You will also maintain and improve the technical aspects of the repository, ensuring that applications and servers are up-to-date and secure.

•  You have experience of the entire Software Development Life Cycle.
• You have experience of working in teams of developers. And your communication skills, enthusiasm and creativity help you motivate your team members to achieve the best possible results. Even if that means challenging our current methods.
• You thrive on writing great code and have intimate knowledge of Python, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, Linux/Unix, NgInx, Apache, GIT, Docker and XML.
• Being able to understand and manage dataflow without using any libraries or/and frameworks is important.
• Intimate knowledge of database systems and servers, data models and data base design of relational, RDF and file-based databases/datasets. Knowledge of SPARQL is plus. Metadata formats as well, such as MODS, of course.
• Nice to have: Knowledge of the IIIF standard for delivering digital images
• You have a good command of English and if you’re not yet proficient in Dutch, you are willing to learn the language (reaching at least listening skills A2).

Fixed-term contract: 2 jaar.

• Duration of contract is 2 years.
• A job of 32-40 hours per week.
• A salary based on scale 11 of the CAO for Dutch Universities with a minimum of €3.974,- and a maximum of €5.439,- gross per month based on a fulltime contract (38 hours), plus 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
