Job description

We are looking to strengthen and expand our expertise in international strategy in Asian and/or emerging economies. We seek candidates with a proven track record and deep expertise in international business strategies, who can contribute to developing and growing our educational and research activities in the Asian and emerging economies context. Candidates must hold a PhD from a leading university, have teaching experience and a relevant publication and research track record.

The Associate Professor International Strategy & Entrepreneurship will deliver on the following points:

  • leads collaborative research projects and teams that develop new and creative approaches to research and practice challenges
  • plays a significant role in creating and developing a research and teaching programme focused on the Asian and/or emerging markets context
  • develops, enables and delivers research- and practice-informed teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • actively promotes the integration of research with other research interests within AMSIB, the Faculty of Business and Economics and as appropriate outside of the university
  • publishes high-impact scholarly research in peer-reviewed journals
  • leads and participates in knowledge transfer activities to disseminate research results and increase impact among the AMSIB’s stakeholders and community, including professionals, students and academics
  • initiates, contributes and plays a significant strategic role in undergraduate and graduate curriculum development in the area of international strategy and entrepreneurship in Asian and emerging market contexts
  • collaborates to generate and expand external research funding from government grants, corporate sponsoring or external funders
  • maintains and expands an international academic and professional network
  • mentors and coaches colleagues in their career development in regards to research capacity and skills
  • contributes proactively and collegially to AMSIB’s development and its international visibility

Requirements

The Associate Professor position requires:

  • A doctoral degree (PhD or DBA) in international strategy, entrepreneurship or a closely related discipline, a focus on Asian and emerging economies is preferred
  • Experience in industry in Asian or emerging markets or with international companies working in those markets
  • Demonstrated leadership in academic practice-oriented research and research-informed teaching
  • Ability to teach in a variety of subjects in AMSIB’s curricula
  • A strong publication track record in peer-reviewed journals in related fields
  • Demonstrated ability in teaching excellence and experience in blended learning or e-learning  
  • Experience in writing successful grants and executing funded research projects
  • A strong academic and professional network in Asian or emerging economies and the ability to connect diverse stakeholders, such as students, government, businesses, researchers
  • An entrepreneurial attitude and proactive engagement in the AMSIB’s development
  • Leadership qualities and ability to work in a multicultural and diverse environment
  • Ability to engage students in research and to translate theory into practice
  • Excellent communication skills in English (minimum requirement IELTS 7.0 / CE1); preference is given to native English speakers.

What you can expect from us

  • A position based on salary scale 13 of the Collective Employment Agreement of the Dutch Universities (CAO HBO).
  • Gross monthly salary between € 5.164 – € 6.579, plus an additional 8% vacation pay and a year-end payment of one month’s salary (13th month), based on a full-time appointment and dependent on education and experience.
  • An initial contract for a period of one year or two years. Contract extension and permanent contract dependent on performance.
  • An extensive package of employee benefits, including a generous holiday allowance of 10.7 weeks, paid parental leave, pension scheme from ABP, commuting reimbursement, bicycle plan, union membership, sport facilities and activities
