Challenge: Measuring and understanding the effects of ionising radiation on tissue
Change: Dosimetry and biology for therapy and radiation protection.
Impact: Driving the safety of nuclear technology

Job description

The effects of ionising radiation on human tissue can be damaging or therapeutic. How do different types and combinations of radiation and the protracted low-dose or therapeutic high-dose exposure interact with human tissue? As a Professor at TU Delft Radiation Science & Technology (RST) you will advance the understanding of ionising radiation in nuclear technology and medical applications. Would you like to play a leading role in the field of radiation dosimetry and radiation health physics, and strengthen the nuclear community in the Netherlands? Join us as an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, depending on your experience.

Combining radiation dosimetry and biology, you will develop research for which you will work closely with our medical partners at HollandPTC and university hospitals. To realize your vision, you will write research proposals, attract funding and build your team of PhD students and postdocs, whom you’ll supervise to completion. In addition, you will develop educational programmes, teach Bachelor and Master students and support them with experiments and analysis. And as TU Delft is the leading centre in the Netherlands for radiation protection and radiological health physics education, you will be responsible for the highest level of expertise in these fields, and educate our teachers accordingly.

As you establish your authority in this field, you will connect the communities of industrial and healthcare radiation experts. Sharing your knowledge, you will represent the Netherlands at leading conferences and in international committees. At RST you will join our driven team of researchers, technicians and PhD students working in the fields of radionuclide therapy, proton therapy or biomedical imaging. We offer you a friendly, collaborative and supportive environment. Welcoming your ideas, we help you evolve and grow your academic career.
