For LAB42 we are looking for an enthusiastic Community Manager who will build a community that is necessary to achieve these goals and who will be responsible for the implementing and improving of current processes and for the day-to-day operational office management. This is an interesting and unique opportunity for someone expand their network in the AI community and contribute to the AI ecosystem of Amsterdam.

What are you going to do?

Your mission is to connect the residents of LAB42 (students, researchers and industry) with each other and to connect them with outside communities i.e. start-up communities and knowledge institutes. You will help the UvA with crafting and executing the strategy to increase the engagement within the community. Our goal is a community that is vibrant, well connected and informed about all that is going on in and around LAB42. In order to achieve this goal, you will work with several partners on both a regional (within Science Park / Amsterdam) as well as national level (i.e. Nederlandse AI coalitie and ICAI)

Further more you will:
  • Craft and execute the community strategy and activities together with the business developer(s) and communications manager ;
  • Coordinate the LAB42 communications and development of content together with the communication colleagues and the residents of LAB42;
  • Support the broader network of initiatives in LAB42 and connects with those other initiatives where it fits;
  • Initiate and maintain partnerships with outside partners for community benefits;
  • Contact person for the partners in LAB42 and support them with their needs (connection, facilities) ;
Your workplace will be at LAB42, located at Amsterdam Science Park. You will join the Support Office team of the Informatics Institute, which includes Business Developers, Project Managers, and other Community Managers. Your direct supervisor will be the Coordinator of Business Relations at the Informatics Institute. The atmosphere at LAB42 is informal and sociable, with frequent optional social activities. Additionally, you will have the flexibility to work from home one day per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor/Master degree;
  • At least 2+ years of work experience with 'community building' (or similar)
  • Able to work to work independently
  • Experience with marketing communication tools, social media and organizing both online and offline events;
  • Knowledge on building a community and building bridges between different partners;
  • Pragmatic, hands-on, excellent organizational skills and communication skills;
  • Affinity with technology, science & entrepreneurship;
  • Fluent in both spoken and written Dutch and English;

Conditions of employment

Your salary, depending on your relevant experience on commencement of the employment contract, ranges between € 2.960 and € 4.660 per month on the basis of a full working week of 38 hours. This sum does not include the 8% holiday allowance and the 8.3% year-end allowance. The Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU) is applicable. The UFO profile Projectleider 1 is applicable to this position and this fits in a scale 10. For this position we can not sponsor a visa.

The UvA has an extensive package of fringe benefits, including:
  • 29 vacation days for full-time employment & additional vacation days between Christmas and the turn of the year;
  • Mobile phone and a laptop;
  • Reimbursement of commuting expenses (of travel cost allowance);
  • Pension accrual at ABP for which UvA pays two third part of the contribution;
  • You have the flexibility to combine work and private life, with the option of working from home;
  • By working two hours more than your working hours each week, you will receive 96 compensation hours on an annual basis. The same applies if you are part-timer;
  • In addition, the UvA offers excellent study and development opportunities and encourages employees to continue to develop themselves;
  • You may participate in the open UvA lectures, which earn you a maximum of 30 credits per year.
We offer a temporary employment contract for one year with a view to an employment contract for an indefinite period. Your location will be Amsterdam.
