Job description

The increased digitalization and datafication of science and society raise important questions about today's and tomorrow's world. That is why critical thinkers have a part to play. As a postdoc, you will look at how digitalization shapes the economy. Join the interdisciplinary research institute iHub in the Netherlands, where you can flourish in a vibrant, international academic community.

Your main task will be to undertake research. You will engage in interdisciplinary research, also by collaborating with two researchers (F. Zuiderveen Borgesius and R.M. Gellert) who look at digitalisation and the economy from a legal perspective.

Possible research topics include:
- How can media survive if most online advertising money goes to ad tech companies, rather than to media, such as online newspapers?
- How do digitalisation and fintech change practices in fields such as insurance and consumer credit?
- What are the economic effects of digital price differentiation?
- Which market failures cause information security problems, and how can such market failures be addressed?
- How are markets, and market failures, transformed by digitalisation?
- When does digitalisation limit and enlarge financial and social inequality?
- Should insights from nudging and behavioural economics inform the regulation of digital technology, and if so, how?
- How can economic and behavioural science insights inform research into people's privacy behaviour?
- How do companies use behavioural science, nudging, and dark patterns to influence consumer behaviour in digital environments?

You will also work on grant proposals at the regional, national and European level. This is not a teaching position. But if you are interested, some teaching can be arranged.
