Job description

Do you have experience working in a scientific environment? And do you enjoy using your substantive and organisational expertise to set up international collaborations? The large-scale international research facility HFML-FELIX is looking for a project leader to support our participation in a palette of European projects and the international collaborations LEAPS and EMFL.

In the role of European Project Officer, you will be the linchpin in HFML-FELIX's contributions to European projects and collaborations, the most prominent ones being the League of European Accelerator-based Photon Sources (LEAPS) and the European Magnetic Field Laboratories (EMFL). Related collaborations include FELs of Europe, Laserlab Europe and Analytical Research Infrastructures in Europe (ARIE).

You will represent HFML-FELIX in relevant consultations for these collaborations and you will be the point of contact for organisational aspects related to these collaborations, both internally and externally. In this role, you will ensure that the broad HFML-FELIX organisation remains well connected to the European teams by sharing information and connecting researchers and technicians.

You will be responsible for the planning and execution of both organisational and substantive aspects of the aforementioned collaborations and projects. This includes preparing the content of meetings in cooperation with the director, reporting, coordinating the organisation of scientific meetings (live and online), and ensuring correct reporting and evaluation. Together with the communication officer, you will take care of the drafting and distribution of newsletters and other communications of the networks.

You will coordinate internal input and follow-up where necessary and decide which researchers can be involved in a project, proposal or external request. To this end, you maintain good contacts with the scientific and technical staff of HFML-FELIX. You will coordinate your activities with the scientific director and the managing director, to whom you will report. The position is embedded in the organisation's support team, which, besides the European project officer, consists of an operations coordinator, a communications officer, a business liaison officer, three management assistants, and a managing director.
