The Forest Ecology and Forest Management Group at Wageningen University is looking for an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track). This position is part of Wageningen University's commitment to the new "Sector Plan Biology" (SPB) which has been developed to perform fundamental biological research in the framework of evolutionary and ecological theory to connect the various levels of biological organization to understand the dynamics of biological variation (biodiversity).

In this position, you will develop, supervise, and conduct high-quality research on forests as part of multifunctional, biodiverse, and resilient landscapes. You will also, together with stakeholders, develop management solutions and restoration strategies to “bend the curve of biodiversity loss.” Much of this work will centre on the Netherlands but there may be opportunities to work across Europe and beyond. You will do this as part of a team that includes members of the Plant Ecology and Nature Conservation Group and the Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Group, and by involving other staff members of chair groups involved in the SPB.

As part of this position, you will publish your research in international academic journals as well as reaching out to relevant stakeholders. You will also contribute to education, by supervising thesis and internship students and by coordinating, teaching, and developing courses at the BSc and MSc level.

• Hold a PhD degree in forest science, ecology, or a related field;
• Are experienced in acquiring funding and actively involved in internationally oriented research projects or collaborations;
• Are experienced in working in multi- or interdisciplinary research teams;
• Are experienced in delivering high quality education, including supervising BSc and MSc students;
• Have excellent research qualities, as shown by publications in international peer-reviewed journals;
• Are a team player and contribute to a variety of academic activities and services;
• Demonstrate cross-cultural sensitivity and are committed to an inclusive working environment;
• Have a good command of spoken and written English;

Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between € 3974 and € 6181 for a full-time working week of 38 hours in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 11 or 12).
