Job description

Are you looking for a flexible and creative side job to combine with your studies in Communication Science? Are you enthusiastic, an organising talent and social media savvy?

The College and Graduate School of Communication are responsible for the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam and we are looking for two new student assistants. As a student assistant in Communication & Events you will be working together with our team of study advisers to support communication activities and events.

What are you going to do?
As a student assistant in Communication & Events, you will be:
  • Helping out with all sorts of communications activities, such as;
    • Keeping our students informed and involved via social media;
    • Drafting texts and designing newsletters for current and potential students
    • Updating the programme website and student website;
    • Designing and creating new ways of informing students through social media;
    • Designing marketing materials such as brochures, videos and online content (no knowledge required but creativity is expected).
  • Organising/supporting smaller and larger events, like;
    • Introduction days & Graduation ceremonies;
    • Bachelor’s & Master’s information events ;
    • Career events (such as CS on the Spot);
    • Supporting the study advisers, policy advisers and communications officers with ad hoc projects;
    • Representing students at Bachelor’s and Master’s information events.

The above tasks will be divided among the two new student assistants based on talents and interests.

Requirements

Your experience and profile:
  • Currently, you are a Communication Science Master’s student or senior Bachelor’s student;
  • You are proactive and think two steps ahead;
  • You like, and are able, to work independently and flexibly (some weeks will be busier than others);
  • You are creative, easy going and adaptable;
  • You are social media savvy (good with both creating content and webcare);
  • You enjoy being a Communication Science student and would like to be part of the team and represent the College and Graduate School of Communication towards prospective students;
  • Understanding of Dutch is preferable.

Conditions of employment

The position concerns temporary employment of 12 hours per week for a period of at least a year, starting 1 August 2023. Depending on your experience, the minimum salary is €2402 and the maximum salary is €2611 gross per month based on a 38-hour working week, in keeping with salary scale Ombudsstudent GSC, as per the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities.

We additionally offer an extensive package of secondary benefits, including 8% holiday allowance and a year-end bonus of 8.3%.
